A banker troubled by both business and personal problems is transferred to a small town. There he meets and seduces an older woman. Together, they decide to pull off a payroll holdup together.
The new manager of a bank in the small New England town of Pittsville sees an opportunity to make a killing when he seduces Kit, an influential woman in the town. He soon persuades her to help him rob his own bank, which he believes will be an easy job. However, a monkey wrench is thrown into his plans from an unexpected source that complicates matters.
