Before the series was shown on television, three of the episodes were edited together into a feature film, which was released in Sydney, Australia on 11 December 1975, while the rest of the series was still in production.
During the Dutch broadcast in 1980 episodes 15 and 23 were swapped. These episodes were also swapped during the West German broadcast, but episode 15 eventually did not air in this country.
The co-producers of the series, Network Ten (known as the 0/10 Network at the time of production) and Paramount, both became units of ViacomCBS in December 2019. ViacomCBS was renamed to Paramount Global in 2022.
Though only 26 episodes were made, two different Paramount logos were used. Some episodes ended with the logo used by Paramount Television for TV movies from 1968 to 1976, which is identical to the logo used by Paramount Pictures for films released in cinemas around the same time, and others ended with the "blue mountain" logo first used by Paramount Television in September 1975. Regardless of the logo used, the closing theme displaced whatever music was normally associated with that logo.
In some episodes, the closing theme is entirely instrumental, while other episodes begin with some vocals, which are different from those in the opening theme, and finish with an instrumental section.
