Based on the true story of Dr. David Hartman, the first blind person to graduate from medical school. He was born with malformed lenses which impaired his vision. At the age of eight, he developed glaucoma and detached retinas. After three operations, young Hartman learned he would never see again. Years later, he decided he wanted to be a doctor, even though his family tried to persuade him against it. Nine medical schools turned him down before Temple University decided to give him a chance. He graduated there with a medical degree in May 1978.
