  Veeru : He was the police officer then. Don't you recognize him?

  Jai : [Looking at Thakur]  All police officers look the same to me.

  Thakur Baldev Singh : [train whistle indicates train is about to leave]  I know I can't share your grief; but I do.

  Thakur Baldev Singh : [In a gravely voice]  I am no longer a police officer. People simply address me as Thakur Baldev Singh.

  Jai : [Sarcastically teasing Kumar]  Why ? Lost your zeal to play with danger in these passing years ?

  Thakur Baldev Singh : [Taking the comments lightly]  If you're so adventurous, then come work for me.

  Veeru : [Being suspicious of Kumar]  We work only for money.

  Thakur Baldev Singh : How much would be your price ?

  Jai : [Sharing Dharmendra's suspicions]  What's the deal about ?

  Thakur Baldev Singh : If you are so courageous as you think of yourself to be, why worry about what the job is ! Come with me

  Veeru : [On being briefed about the task in an abandoned shed]  Gabbar Singh ? That notorious dacoit, known for robberies, murders and other crimes ?

  Thakur Baldev Singh : [Confirming Dharmendra's queries]  Exactly. HIM

  Thakur Baldev Singh : . Police wants Gabbar Singh, DEAD OR ALIVE. I too want Gabbar, ALIVE.

  Veeru : Isn't there also a massive bounty on his head declared by the authorities ?

  Thakur Baldev Singh : Absolutely. 50,000 bucks. For whosoever brings him in dead or alive.

  Veeru : [Believing it to be a setup]  So you want to say that you will get that massive prize money whilst we would risk our lives going after that menacing bandit for a mere 5000 ?

  Thakur Baldev Singh : [Clarifying]  There's no grand money for easy tasks. And it's you both who'll get the full reward of 50 grand. All I want is Gabbar, ALIVE.

  Jai : [Suspecting a link between Kumar and Khan]  You got some personal grudge against the guy ?

  Thakur Baldev Singh : [Responding in a partially furious tone]  That's none of your business.

  Jai : Fair. So let's talk actual business. Thakur Sahab, we too happen to be common criminals rather than cops or mercenaries. So why do you think we could do the task police hasn't succeeded in ?

  Thakur Baldev Singh : [Speaking facts]  It's because only steel can clash with steel and cut it. You might be mere criminals, but you understand the psychche better than police. But nevertheless, it's upto you to decide whether you want to take this job.

  [Gesturing to Satyendra Kapoor] 

  Thakur Baldev Singh : Ramlal.

  [as Kapoor puts cash on the table] 

  Thakur Baldev Singh : This is 5000 for each of you. The other five, if and when you come to Ramgarh.

  Veeru : [Asking Amitabh Bachchan after Kumar leaves]  What do you think ?

  Jai : We'll decide as usual.

  [Pulls out his coin] 

  Jai : Heads, we're off to Ramgarh. Tails...

  Veeru : [Continuing to Amitabh Bachchan's thought]  Nope.
