Vague, yet haunting, memories
Blueghost23 November 2002
It's been years since I've seen this version of the 1950's Cary Grant film. I don't recall much other than I believe this was supposed to be the pilot to a series based on the adventures and misadventures of the Sea Tiger and her crew. It certainly didn't have an all star cast by any means, and the gags (recollecting them as best as I can) fell short of amusing adults.

If this thing ever rears its head again one can only hope it'll be donated to the local libraries on either Beta or on audio casette format for that video camera that was marketed to kids a decade or so back (remember the one?).

Made for TV remakes of classic films should teach the film industry one thing; DON'T DO THEM.

Jamie Lee's first big role
tpcktt3 September 2006
This short-lived show is famous for the fact that this was Jamie Lee Curtis' first big role before becoming going on to films (HALLOWEEN, FREAKY Friday, A FISH CALLED WANDA, TRADING PLACES, etc). I remember watching this show as child. The other actors I can recall were John Astin, Richard Gilliand (before marrying 'DESIGNING WOMAN' Jean Smart), Curtis, a blonde actress who resembled ALL MY CHILDREN's Taylor Miller (she played Nina Cortlandt Warner on AMC), and a brunette who later replaced Brenda Dixon in the role of Jill on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, when Dixon left Y&R the first time in 1980. As for the jokes and situation, I do not recall them. I did not find that funny, despite the fact that it had Astin as the star. This was NOT one of his best post-Gomez Addams roles.

Vaudeville on a Submarine....

Warning: Spoilers
A dire TV film which seems to have been made on with virtually no budget whatsoever. The movie seems to be something like a comedy sketch show linked together by various weak subplots. This is no naval M*A*S*H - that was funny and well written. I could almost hear the "boom-boom" after each unfunny joke. The only point of interest is the curiosity value of a young Jamie Lee Curtis playing an Army nurse. The special effects aren't up to much either. You can see supports for the pyrotechnics floating just under the water when they land on the island with the radio station.

A totally lame affair. There are better ways to spend a couple of hours. Don't bother!

Not up to the Original move
vgraulau20 June 2008
The show had some potential, but ABC landed a bomb on this one. While the show had some serious eye candy like Jamie Lee Curtis and Melinda Naud, the show could not accomplish the chemistry of the characters from the Cary Grant and Tony Curtis (Jamie Lee's dad). Some interesting characters like the late Jim Varney couldn't save this show. John Astin, a little more serious than his zany Gomez Adams, can't fill Cary Grant's shoes. Richard Gilliland was OK as Lt Holden. Worth a see for a few laughs. The show used a lot of scenes from the original movie. If there are some old salts wanting to see a pink BALAO class sub, don't be upset with this one!
