Raise your hand if Judy Blume‘s books guided you through puberty. We thought so. We’re sure you remember where you were when you read Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret, and were baffled by the dated belted sanitary pad instructions. Or when you read Forever, the famously lusty tale of a teen girl and her lover, who actually named his junk Ralph. The oft-banned, super-controversial, highly censored author’s young adult (and adult) novels were rife with memorably spicy scenes that were burned on our subconscious — and now, the legendary author’s at it again! For the first time in over a decade, Blume’s working on a new book.
Sadly, she’s not giving up details on what it’s about, but her Knopf editor told the New York Times: “It’s pure Judy Blume, writing about family and about friendships, about love,...

American Horror Story: Coven opened with Marie (Angela Bassett) and Fiona (Jessica Lange) appearing to come together under the banner of a common cause at the now infamous 9th Ward hair salon. Will the bond remain, or will the two witching leaders soon turn against each other again?
American Horror Story: Coven Recap
When Fiona left Marie, Marie received a visit from Papa Legba (Lance Reddick). Papa Legba is a half-deity/half-man figure of the voodoo world, who has sway and influence over Marie. In fact, if she doesn’t do what he says, there will be trouble. He urges her to keep her part of an age-old bargain. She then leaves the salon and heads to a nursery, where she steals a baby. Marie follows that up with using her mind to get two cops to shoot one another – in front of the baby.
Meanwhile, Fiona has taken Misty...

Welcome to EW.com’s Ya novel bracket game. We’re pitting 64 young adult books against each other in a March-Madness style game to determine which you think is the best of all time. Round one begins below.

Little Women The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Not to be outdone by its partners-in-pre-stream, the long-awaited Haim debut, Days Are Gone, is available to hear over at NPR before its official September 30 release. Does it add up to the "they sound like Fleetwood Mac, in a good way" hype these girls have been getting since we all first heard "The Wire"? So far we think so, but it's ultimately up to you. Since you've probably heard "Falling," "Forever," "Don't Save Me," and "The Wire" from their Ep, start with "If I Could Change Your Mind" and the tuba-filled "My Song 5." Stream the entire thing over at NPR.

The Michael Grandage plan is working. Stars and cheap tickets are bringing new audiences to his West End season, with 25% of the tickets going to first-time bookers.
Now Harry Potter fans are confronted with a gloriously perverse writing talent. The Cripple of Inishmaan is Grandage's most unlikely combination to date. Smooth-faced Daniel Radcliffe takes the title role in provocative Martin McDonagh's 1997 play. The neat, adored boy wizard plays a shambolic youth no one wants to kiss. As directed by Grandage, this looks like a cunning wheeze.
You would not pick Radcliffe out as a soaring talent if you saw him with an innocent eye on the stage. Yet neither would you mark him down as a star who has blundered on to the boards. More assured than he was in his last stage appearance, in Equus, he is restrained and controlled in a...

When Judy Blume, author of beloved children's books and young adult classics from "Blubber" to "Forever," appeared on HuffPost Live last week, there was one thing we all hoped she would talk about -- and she didn't disappoint.
A viewer asked Blume to demonstrate the famous "I must increase my bust" exercise from her book "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret."
Blume said, "I'd be happy to show you, but I also have to say it doesn't work," and demonstrated (watch above).
We're not willing to give up on that magic just yet.

Fans will whoop to hear Tiger Eyes has been made into a film. For many she was the first writer to make sense of the world
Tiger Eyes, my favourite of Judy Blume's books, has been made into a film which finally has a Us release date. I'll leave a pause for a generation of women to leap whooping from their seats, and the rest of you can just look bemused and embarrassed, like a dog faced with strong emotion.
Tiger Eyes tells the story of Davey, a 15-year-old girl who has moved to New Mexico with her younger brother and her mother, following the violent death of her father. It is a book about anguish, and the paralysing effects of grief; it is a story of bad decisions made in the grips of bereavement and adolescence. The book opens with Davey borrowing a pair of her mother's shoes for the funeral,...

Tiger Eyes is the first film adaptation from the work of Judy Blume, loved by teen girls but hated by Us conservatives
For decades she has been a heroine to generations of young women who have used her bestselling books as guides through the perils of adolescence, even as her frank discussions of sexuality and puberty have outraged social conservatives.
But Judy Blume's legions of fans, who have bought books such as Forever, Blubber and Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret in their millions, have so far been denied seeing her work translated to the big screen.
In an age when Hollywood will turn even a theme-park ride into a movie, the lack of films based on works by such a prolific and globally famous author has been an enduring mystery of the entertainment industry. However, Blume's time has finally come.

This one’s for Martha …
Nothing like a good book to get the rabble-rousers going.
In Field Of Dreams, Ray Kinsella’s wife, played by Amy Madigan, successfully shuts down the effort to ban Terence Mann’s books from the local Iowa school system. Terence Mann – played by James Earl Jones – was based on J.D. Salinger, the reclusive author of Catcher In The Rye.
Catcher was published in 1951, and has pretty much stayed on “attempts to ban it” lists since its publication. In fact, it was the most censored book in America from 1961 to 1982, even though, according to Wikipedia, it was the “second most taught book in United States public schools.” It most recently reappeared on the “most challenged books” list, published by American Library Association, in 2009.
These are some of the books I remember being on the curriculum when I was in school, along some that I missed because...

In news sure to set the hearts of 30-somethings soaring, the magnificent Judy Blume announced that she was adapting one of her lesser classics, Tiger Eyes, for the big screen and that her son, Lawrence Blume, would direct the film. How I remember reading this book, about a grieving girl named Davey transplanted to New Mexico after her Daddy was killed in convenience store robbery. Oh to be a girl with interesting marble-flecked eyes rather than my run of the mill brown! No boys named Wolf hung around anywhere in my stupid neighborhood.
So it’s with some trepidation that...

Welcome to the weekly Newsroom Poll, where we will give you a sneak peek into the lives and minds of some of the correspondents, writers, editors and producers here at MTVNews.com. Every week, they'll answer a poll question that will reveal some of what we talk about behind the scenes here in the newsroom. Enjoy!
This week, details surfaced about one of the most hotly anticipated albums of the fall. No, not Jay-z's The Blueprint 3 or Lil Wayne's Rebirth. We're talking about the soundtrack to "New Moon," which will likely feature contributions from Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Muse, Kings of Leon and Death Cab for Cutie. There was also the announcement of the soundtrack to "Jennifer's Body," the new Diablo Cody-penned horror film. With that, combined with the quarter-century anniversary of one of the finest film soundtracks ever constructed (that being Prince's Purple Rain), this week's question is:...

Her books have sold 75 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 26 languages.
