The kids on the show got paid extra for episodes in which they were doused with water or green slime - $75 for water and $150 for slime.
Christine McGlade had no intention of trying out for the show's cast; she went to the auditions solely to keep a friend company. Producer 'Roger Price' told her she had to audition or leave. She auditioned, and was made the host of the show.
The 1987 "Adoption" episode was never seen in the U.S. again following its original airing, and it never aired in Canada. Among the scenes that led to the banning is the one where Valerie and Lance adopt Doug because it was cheaper than buying a dog. The studio master of this episode has a large label on it reading "DO NOT AIR". By 1987, there were fifteen episodes pulled from the rotation for Nickelodeon: the banned "Adoption" episode, all thirteen 1981 episodes, and the 1982 "Cosmetics" episode. Including Alasdair's "Crusher Wallace, the school bully" and the censored locker monster skits. While telling jokes, one of the kids is eaten alive in front of the cast.
In July 2004, a reunion episode called "Project 131" was shot in CJOH studios starring five members of the original cast; Vanessa Lindores, Brodie Osome, Marjorie Silcoff, Justin Cammy and Alasdair Gillis. Lindores, Osome and Silcoff were the main characters on the actual set, while Cammy and Gillis were off set complaining of not having enough lines. The only parts of the set still available at the time was the row of lockers (of which only Silcoff and Osome did jokes due to Lindores being pregnant at the time) and the library shelving background. Everything else was long gone, including the main linking set, which was featured on a green screen. This also featured Les Lye's nephew announcing and thinking he won the job, only to find out this was the last ever episode. This was (and will continue to be) the last production made in CJOH's studio D before it was retired. Unfortunately, sometime since its airing, the episode and all references to the episode (including on this web site) have vanished.
