Violence & Gore

  • The film (based on Shakespeare's play) centers around a war between England and France, but almost no actual violence is ever seen
  • There is a battle at Harfleur, but almost no violence is seen and is never graphic or bloody
  • After conquering the city, King Henry V threatens to destroy and murder everyone in the city if they do not surrender. The French do surrender, however, and King Henry V insists that none of his soldiers hurt anyone as a result.
  • A man is sentenced to death by hanging for breaking the law. This is sad and emotional, but little violence is actually seen.
  • Another final battle at Agincourt where the English defeat the French. Some violence is seen with little blood, but not overly graphic.
  • The French murder all the English pages, though this mostly takes place off screen. This is disturbing and sad.
  • After discovering all the dead bodies of the English pages, King Henry V orders all the French prisoners to be executed.
