Last March, 25-year-old Kiana Fazeli was at the library studying for the MCATs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., prepping for medical school applications. "I was honestly kind of depressed," she remembers. "It was a very, very lonely time for me."
Then, the YouTube algorithm surfaced a video for Stray Kids, a K-pop group, and a member, whom she now knows as Felix, caught her attention. She wondered: "Who is this handsome fellow?" She started poring over Stray Kids's TikToks and music videos and learning more about the eight-member group. That snowballed into Fazeli getting into BTS after watching their vacation docuseries, "In the Soop [Forest]," and their variety show, "Run BTS."

If you use movies for time travel, as we often suggest people should given that they're cheaper than time machines, you could do worse than renting the restored 1974 porn Passing Strangers. The site Pink Label.TV, which is queer owned and operated, and specializes in ethical and niche adult queer indie fare is currently hosting a restored print. It's the latest restoration for the work of the trailblazing filmmaker Arthur J Bressan Jr. Bressan also made the landmark gay drama Buddies (1981) and the documentary Gay USA (1977) which Glenn recently raved about. His earlier porn, Passing Strangers, emerged during that brief heyday in the 1970s when mainstream media was taking porn seriously -- think Deep Throat and Behind the Green Door's blockbuster box office.

Doc Corner is celebrating Pride Month with a focus on documentaries that tackle Lgbtiq themes. This week we are looking at a classic that has been recently restored by the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project.

Pre-aids accounts of queer life and pride that aren’t about the Stonewall riots are rare. Understandably, the violent anti-police uprising of 1969 by drag queens, lesbians and transgender individuals was the most significant moment in the public’s understanding of Lgbtiq people until the epidemic. But while there is a lot to be found about the queer experience through films that interrogate both Stonewall and AIDS, just as vital to the fabric are films like Gay USA from 1977.
Directed by Arthur J. Bressan, Jr., this compendium of gay pride wraps itself in a rainbow flag of its own making and sets out to celebrate the experience of nation-wide parades and marches that for...

This amazing information comes to light after the duo participated in a new talk-show where they reminisced over old times. More imminently, Shatrughan Sinha saw Big B's latest release <em>Pink</em> and was bowled over. Raves the outspoken Sinha, “What a film! So timely, so thought-provoking and a mirror of today’s times. The three actresses are gorgeous. But it’s The Amitabh Bachchan who holds the film together with his towering performance. He proves once again that he is one of his kind. You heard this here before it actually happened. The Diwali bash at the Big B's family on Wednesday night would have an unexpected guest. For years they were arch-enemies warring over footage and dialogues. In films like Kala Patthar and Dostana the rivalry between the two reached a point of no return.... ....Or so it seemed until recently when the two decided to bury the hatchet and let the past remain in the past. And now on Wednesday night when the Bachchans throw their doors open for a Diwali party, Shatrughan Sinha, busy with his political activities in Delhi flew back on Tuesday evening to Mumbai in time for the bash at the Bachchan's. Says Shatruji, "Yes, I am going for the Bachchans' party. It is going to be a full on Bharat Milap between Amitji and me. We may have had our differences in the past. But we have both matured and,...

Writers around the globe are acknowledged to be the key for a movie's success but it is pathetic that Bollywood has always given them a step motherly treatment. However the writers' pair, who changed the trend and demanded remunerations at par with stars, are unarguably the only star writer duo Salim Javed, who penned hit movies like Sholay, Deewaar, Zanjeer, Don, Trishul, Shakti, Mr. India etc.
Salim Khan in an interview said, "The reason why we demanded such high remunerations was because we were confident of our skills and wrote scripts that were hard-bound, a trend that was initiated by us."
Recalls Salim Khan, "When I used to assist distinguished writer Abrar Alvi (He wrote hit films like Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Chaudvin Ka Chand etc.) in the mid-50s, I always used to insist him to increase his remuneration standard reasoning writers are the backbone of the film and...

Being your self is never easy.
However, finding ourselves is a journey and challenge that each one of us must undertake in our own unique way.
Kalki Koechlin’s character Laila (Margarita, with a straw; Dir. Shonali Bose) portrays an inspirational woman fighting a battle to be herself – regardless of whether considered “normal” by societal standards or not.
Laila has cerebral palsy, a neurological condition affecting movement and coordination. Her disability provokes different reactions, negative and positive. Despite the challenges and discrimination that life throws her way, Laila is a determined individual full of dreams and of love.
Laila likes boys.
Laila also discovers that she likes Khanum (Sayani Gupta), a girl.
Falling in love and having a relationship with Khanum begins another strand of self-discovery and self-acceptance within her journey.
Being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender is still hugely frowned upon within the South Asian community – no matter which...

The unstoppable rhetorician Shatrughan Sinha addressed the Un General Assembly for third time on Tuesday.
It is a singular honour. No other member of the Indian film industry has addressed the Un thrice over.
"I suppose somewhere my words do have a certain resonance," says Shatruji trying to sound modest. "Normally we in the Indian film fraternity are considered quite ill-informed on matters others than entertainment. But that isn't the reality. Personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Kamal Haasan are not just interested in cinema. They take a keen interest in world affairs, and are also terrific orators."
Shatrughan Sinha feels the Big B, Amitabh Bachchan should be made the President of India. "He has all the qualifications. He's articulate, well-read, suave and known all over the world."

The veteran star, who was the inspiration for Cornershop's number one hit 'Brimful of Asha', spoke to CNN about the vocal talent behind lip-synched music. "First I sing in the house Indian classical music, [to train] my voice. After that I come to the studio, they give [me] a song, and they tell me that this is what you have to sing and I learn right then. In two, three hours, [we] record it." Bhosle said. His elder brother Anil Sharma may have made period films like Gadar and Veer, but Kapil Sharma has penned a truly hatke film called Donno Y... Na Jaane Kyon?, which deals with the love affair of a gay couple, portrayed by Kapil himself and Yuvraaj Parashar. Co-starring hi-profile veterans like Zeenat Aman, Helen, Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal and Kabir Bedi, the film is directed by Sanjay Sharma, elder to Kapil, but younger to Anil Sharma. While Dostana wasn't a 'gay film' as such, Donno Y... Na Jaane Kyon? promises to be India's answer to Brokeback Mountain. That's a tall claim, isn't it? "We aren't comparing the two films. All we are saying is that like Brokeback Mountain, Donno Y... Na Jaane Kyon? also talks of two men who love each other unconditionally," Kapil clarifies. What was elder brother Anil Sharma's reaction when he heard the plot? "He was surprised, but...

New Delhi, The leading ladies of Hindi filmdom are in for serious competition from none other than their male counterparts with an ever increasing number of them shedding inhibitions and showing off chiseled torsos and butts. Whether it is still shots of Bollywood's Adonis -- John Abraham -- with his shorts half pulled down, showing more than a hint of sculpted butt, in upcoming release “Dostana” or it is the towel-dropping scene of “Saawariya” filmed on Ranvir Kapoor, male nudity is on the high in Indian films.
