There are ongoing signs of a gangland warfare when a charred body is found , and a nightclub is razed to the ground. A son's loyalty to his father is tested. Linford-Jones treats the members of CI to an expensive dinner. Baker decides to resurrect his battered bike and brings it into the station.

Two ex-couriers for a large drug syndicate become unwitting informants and are now on the run in fear of their lives. The syndicate is in pursuit and has eyes everywhere. Linford-Jones goes out on patrol with O'Reilly to do research his new documentary on the uniform branch. Amanda appears to be falling for the brash Linford-Jones.

Despite being protected by an undercover detective in a "safe house", one of the young informants is killed. His girlfriend escapes and is again on the run, in fear for her life. Johnson shows worrying signs of work related stress as he seeks refuge in the bottle. O'Reilly and Baker begin riding their bicycles to the station.

To mast bandits rob a West Riverside bank and take the assistant accountant as hostage. The robbery was so efficient that an inside job appears unlikely. Linford-Jones suspects a union official of having criminal connections. Roy Baker enters a 50 km bicycle race and O'Reilly insists on being his coach. Valerie is plotting to entice Johnson to move to the country.

Evidence mounts against Bradley, a bank employee suspected of robbery, when police find a large bundle of cash in his home. Baker finds O'Reilly to be a most demanding cycling coach. Johnson discovers why Valerie's proposed country property is so affordable. A dishevelled constable Sam Phillips arrives at Riverside police station.
