Jaaved Jaaferi started his career as a villain in Meri Jung, but he has found a lot of success in comedies. His latest film is a war comedy called War Chhod Na Yaar. In this film, Jaaved plays a soldier alongside Sharman Joshi who plays the protagonist in the film.
Jaaved says, “I don’t know whether it’s a compliment or an insult when people say you are doing a lot of comedies. An actor’s job is to merge with the role that he is playing whether it’s a comedy or a serious one. I think comedy is also a very serious business. Sharman’s comic timing is really good but he’s also a serious actor. I think if you find it easy to perform in comedy roles then you can perform serious roles too easily”.
War Chhod Na Yaar is a film that looks at war through a comic angle.

Subhash Ghai is known as the Showman who has transformed actors into Bollywood stars. Before Kalicharan in 1976, Shatrughan Sinha was looking for that one elusive hit and once the movie released he became a sought after actor. Jackie Shroff was introduced with Hero which straightaway catapulted him to stardom. Even Anil Kapoor was acting in a string of ensemble casts before Meri Jung saw him once again as a full-fledged hero. Sanjay Dutt made an excellent comeback with the Ghai film Khalnayak after a long hiatus.
Subhash Ghai’s Kaachi, releasing on the 6th of December, is a musical drama and is the story of an innocent rural beauty under fire and her fight against power.
Kartik Aryan, seen before in Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Akaash Vani, is being personally groomed and mentored by Subhash Ghai himself. He is also working with industry veterans Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty in the movie.

The 80s and 90s were the time of some epic films in Bollywood. Some of the films that come to mind are the films of Subhash Ghai such as Hero, Karma, Meri Jung, Khalnayak and Taal. Even today, we flip a channel and there is a Ghai movie running on one channel or the other.
All his films had a clearly defined and easy to follow narrative that was a hit with the masses and the classes. The characters were etched properly and left a mark and the songs were melodious and catchy.
Ghai was called the showman because of the beauty that he portrayed on screen with each moment. The lighting, composition, and acting were all pitch perfect. Ghai has been a champion of commercial cinema and has been successful in satisfying everyone, whether it is a truck driver or a diamond merchant. An important aspect of his filmmaking...

Pran Kishan Sikand
Pran Kishan Sikand dreamt of becoming a professional photographer. Little did he know that a measly, humble ‘paan’ (betel leaf) would change his life and set him on his destined path. It was 1939 or thereabouts. Pran was at a ‘paan’ shop at Lahore, enjoying a munch with his friends when a stranger approached him and asked whether he wanted to act in films. Pran was amused and asked his name. Stranger introduced himself as Muhammad Walli, a renowned film maker in the flourishing film district of Lahore. He said he was making a Punjabi film and Pran looked a perfect fit for the role of a villain in the film. Pran just brushed him off. Walli kept insisting that he pay a visit to the studio, and pushed a piece of paper with his address into Pran’s hands. The film was Yamla Jat (1940), a runaway hit that year.
