- Natty Gann: I'm cold.
- Harry: Buck up, kid, will ya?
- Natty Gann: I'm bucking!
- [turns to Wolf]
- Natty Gann: I'm bucking, right?
- Sherman: Oh, no, Natty.
- [puppy yips in background]
- Sherman: . Do I look like an animal shelter?
- Natty Gann: Don't worry, I'll keep this one.
- Sherman: That's what you said the last time.
- Harry: [opens the door to a barn, looks inside, then speaks to Natty] It looks safe. Come on. Come on! It's empty! Nothin' in here but a pig, and he sure don't care.
- [Wolf is running alongside the train that Natty and Harry are aboard]
- Natty Gann: Come on Wolf! Come on!
- Harry: He's not gonna make it.
- Natty Gann: Come on!
- Harry: He's not gonna make it.
- Natty Gann: [encouraging] Come on!
- [Wolf turns and successfully jumps on board the train. Natty hugs him]
- Harry: [looks ahead] He made it.
- [Gann hangs up the phone after speaking with Connie and a man's voice is heard while the camera continues to focus on Gann]
- Logging Boss: What's the matter, Gann?
- Sol Gann: They found my kid's wallet buried under a train in Colorado.
- Logging Boss: Ah, no.
- Sol Gann: [deadpan] What the hell was she doing in Colorado?
- Louie: Shh. Hold your ears.
- Natty Gann: What?
- Louie: Don't listen.
- Natty Gann: Don't be dumb. I've heard a man pee before.
- Louie: Yeah? Where?
- Natty Gann: None of your business.
- Connie: [Natty marches up the stairs with Connie behind her scolding] That is it I've had It!
- Connie: I won't stand for another thing from you young lady you hear me? I'm drawing the line right now!
- Connie: [sees the dog Natty is holding] and that thing better be gone by morning do you hear me?
- [Natty slams the door in Connie's face]
- Natty Gann: [backsassing Connie] Your not the boss of me!
- Connie: Buttcrackers!
- [slaps Natty on her butt]
- Connie: Now get upstairs!
- Connie: [reopens the door and she is very furious with a finger in Natty's face] Now you listen to me you little twirp! Just one more thing from you just one and I guarantee you'll be sorry you ever laid your eyes on me! You understand me?
- Connie: I'll have you so scared your going to pee in your pants! You'll crawl on the floor begging me for mercy!
- Connie: So don't push me! You got it!
- Sol Gann: [asking Connie to be the temporary guardian of Natty Gann] It's not going to be that hard Connie. I mean she's a good kid, practically takes care of herself. All you got to do is make sure she's eating right and she's getting her sleep in now just look after her.
- Connie: Okay.
- Sol Gann: Just watch over her. After I get some money I'll send it to you first thing. And all you got to do is buy her a ticket and put her on a train.
- Connie: It will be extra for taking her to the station. And if your not paying me in advance Sol it will be 9 bucks not 7.
- [the clock chimes]
- Sol Gann: [relizes it's getting late] Okay, okay it's a deal Connie.
- [puts his arm on her shoulder]
- Sol Gann: You'll do it?
- Connie: Sol I said I'll do it.
- [puts her hand on his his chin in a reassuring gesture]
- Connie: I'll do it.
- Sol Gann: [smiles at her] Thanks, Connie.
- [grabs his bag and leaves]
