Sylvester Stallone, the action movie icon known for films like “Rocky” and “Rambo”, is a certified Hollywood A-lister. He took his talents to the small screen with the hit crime drama series, “Tulsa King”.

Apart from starring a Hollywood legend like Sylvester Stallone and featuring some of the finest action-packed, adrenaline-inducing fight scenes, the Rocky franchise is also known for having some of the most incredible musical scores. Yet it is the official soundtrack of the third movie. Rocky III’s Eye of the Tiger that towers over all the other songs.
A still from Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger music video
A Grammy-winning, Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA-nominated single, Eye of the Tiger has had an amazing run on countless music charts as well. Not only did it dominate the music scene back in the day but it also made the band Survivor a legend. However, Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik would have never gotten the golden opportunity for Stallone initially though the song did not have balls!

The film was a huge hit, grossing, $270 million at the box office. And its theme song, Eye of the Tiger by the rock band Survivor, has become one of the most notable aspects of the film. However, it was not what the makers initially wanted for the movie, as they originally aimed to feature Queen’s Another One Bites the Dust.

It's Will Ferrell's party, and we're all invited. On Oct. 7, the actor made a surprise appearance as guest DJ at a Sigma Alpha Mu frat party at the University of Southern California, his alma mater. Getting the party started ahead of the football team's game against the University of Arizona, Ferrell hopped behind the turntables and blasted a medley of hits, including "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor and "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers. Ferrell also played "N- in Paris" by Jay-Z and Kanye West, which features a clip of his "Blades of Glory" character Chazz saying, "No one knows what it means, but it's provocative."
At one point, Ferrell even took his hands off the turntables to operate a fog cannon as he bobbed his head along to the music. Around him, college students danced, sang along, and, of course, recorded the unforgettable moment on their phones.

Carlos Alcaraz is a huge fan of Rocky Balboa, and he's often using it as an inspiration before the match to pump himself up.
Hubert Hurakcz has always been a very tricky matchup for Alcaraz. The conditions in Cincinnati will only make it harder as the serve of the Polish player will be a tough obstacle to overcome. Alcaraz has dealt with Hurkacz pretty well so far, beating him in both matches.
Even so, the matches were very close, and t here was a pretty decent chance that Alcaraz could have lost , either. The most recent one happened a week ago in Toronto , and Alcaraz won it with a 3rd set tiebreak. Expect something similar this time around at the 2023 Cincinnati Masters , and expect Alcaraz to use his typical motivation stuff.

Barbie fever is sweeping the nation, and pink is steadily becoming the dominant color of 2023. After making over $100 million at the box office during its opening weekend, the film’s director, Greta Gerwig, is taking a victory lap, her excited steps likely fueled by the sound of Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger.” Why this song in particular? Gerwig is a Rocky fan, and as it turns out, Sylvester Stallone’s Italian Stallion played a role in how Ryan Gosling’s approach to playing Ken came to be.
Speaking with Uproxx about the monumental success of Barbie, being only the second woman to direct a movie that earned $100M+ at the box office during an opening weekend, and how Stallone represents her idea of a “real man,” Gerwig gushes about finding inspiration in an unexpected resource with the Rocky movies.

Carlos Alacraz has revealed some of the superstitious routines he commits to while on court and before competitions and matches.
Alcaraz has raced to the top of men's tennis over the last two seasons and the Spanish star won his third Atp title of 2023 last week with a Barcelona Open final win against Stefanos Tsitsipas. The win follows victories at Indian Wells and the Argentina Open this season.
While Alcaraz's technical ability and power on the court are clear for all to see, there are some elements to the teenager's game that are less noticeable. In an interview with Marca magazine, the 19-year-old revealed he follows some repetitive ticks during a match due to superstition.
"I try to repeat the things that are going well even if they are nonsense. If at the beginning of the week I do one thing and win the first game, I try to do the same.

It took till season 9 of “The Masked Singer” but we’ve finally got a costume that features five performers: the California Roll. They took to the stage on March 1 to deliver a soaring cover of the hit “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga. After Polar Bear lost the audience vote and was revealed to be rapper Grandmaster Flash, California Roll was pitted in a Battle Royale with Medusa.
Each put their own spin on the classic tune “Uptown Girl” by Billie Joel. Medusa delivered a traditional take on the tune while California Roll turned it into a haunting ballad. After Medusa won the vote, we thought this was the last we’d see of California Roll but Nicole Scherzinger sounded the Ding Dong bell and saved them.

David Walliams was among those vying for Britain’s spot at the next Eurovision Song Contest in a comedy sketch for the BBC’s Comic Relief broadcast.
After performing “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor in a tight leather suit, judges Graham Norton, Lulu and Sam Ryder declared that Walliams had failed to secure the gig.
Upon hearing their verdict, the comedy actor approached the judge’s table and placed a gold, Britain’s Got Talent buzzer on it.
“Well, you might not have liked it but I loved it,” Walliams said, hitting the buzzer, prompting a stream of confetti to fall around him. “Yes! I’m through to the live Eurovision final!” he declared.
“He’s not even on that show anymore,” a bemused Norton said.

Overexposure hurts any work of art and classic rock songs are no different. Some classic rock songs would sound better if they were played less. For example, one of The Beatles’ most popular songs is passable but overplay made it annoying.
Freddie Mercury | Steve Jennings / Contributor 5. The Beatles’ ‘Here Comes the Sun’
The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” is not one of The Beatles’ best songs. I’m not sure it’s a C-tier song for them. It’s a cross between a meditation on nature and a self-empowerment anthem, which is fine in theory. In execution, it’s just dull.
According to a 2021 Forbes article, it’s The Beatles’ most popular song on streaming. Ringo Starr approves. “I didn’t know it was No. 1 No. 1, but it well deserves it,” he opined. “It’s a beautiful song, it’s a beautiful arrangement, the drums are great (laughs). I don’t know,...

Okay, so you're about to read a thousand-odd words about why "Rocky III" features the greatest training montage of all time. But before you continue, just stop right now and listen to this song.
Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed listening to one of the greatest, most iconic, most inspirational rock tracks ever recorded. Look, the entirety of "Rocky III" could be a single, long, and unbroken take of Sylvester Stallone pumping iron in a dimly lit gym, and as long as Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" was playing underneath, it would still be one of the best movies of all time.

Some people would be surprised to learn that Sylvester Stallone is not only the star of the "Rocky" films, but also the writer. He even scored an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 1977, while "Rocky" itself received Best Picture. Stallone is actually a prolific scriptwriter, ever since selling his first feature-length script, "Hell's Kitchen," in 1975. He's written every single "Rocky" film, as well as the "Rambo" films. Stallone's screenwriting prowess shows that he's more multi-faceted than the dumb action star that many like to paint him as, and "Rocky" was his first, and perhaps biggest, success.
Stallone's script for "Rocky" was highly sought after, and because he was nearly broke at the time, Stallone fought to ensure that he would not only sell the script but star in the film, despite resistance from many studios. He managed to secure the leading role and the sale of the script, and the rest is history.

In its fifth season, "Cobra Kai" gets both its "Empire Strikes Back" moment and its "Avengers: Endgame" moment, as the legacy sequel reaches its finest moment. The show also throws any resemblance to the real world out of the window and goes full sports anime. This means the show has its own ridiculous set of rules and laws that may not make sense in our world, but if you're willing to accept that in this version of the San Fernando Valley the only law is karate, then you might find this season utterly delightful. Add some career-best performances by some of the cast members, one incredible cartoon villain, and thrilling stunts, and you've got a season that is the best, around.

Gary Busey was caught pulling his trousers down in a public park days after he was charged with committing several sexual offences at a fan convention in New Jersey.
In a paparazzi-captured video, the 78-year-old Academy Award nominee was seen pulling his trousers down at a public park in California.
As per Page Six, Busey was sitting on a bench at Point Dume Park in Malibu with his sweatpants by his knees.
In the video, his hands appeared to be crossed over his legs when he proceeded to pull up his trousers, and later, smoked a cigar.

Losing has never tasted so good! When Lee Sanderlin agreed to participate in a fantasy football league, he didn't exactly plan on coming in last place. But once the results were in, the 25-year-old had to face the consequences. "As punishment, I spend 24 hours in a Waffle House," he shared on Twitter. On Monday’s episode of “The Late Show,” Stephen Colbert kicked things off with a tribute to the Houston tiger, who was finally rescued after days of no one knowing where it was. And to really make the tribute work, he recruited former Survivor lead singer Dave Bickler to sing a parody of his classic song “Eye of the Tiger.”
A bit of catch up: Over the weekend, a 9-month-old Bengal tiger who had been missing for several days was finally located and turned over to authorities in Houston. Yay! To celebrate, Colbert began “The Late Show” with a cold open recapping the news, and then the music of “Eye of the Tiger” began. Next, Bickler appeared onscreen to sing new lyrics about how relieved everyone is not to be eaten alive by a tiger.

One of the recurring themes within some of the most successful releases of the early Korean New Wave was the conflict between the two Koreas. Films like “Shiri”, “Jsa”, “Tae Guk Gi”, among others, all featured various sides of this dispute between the two nations. However, one feature to show a unique aspect of this issue was “Silmido”, which is based on a novel that is in turn based on an incredible true story, a story which the majority of the Korean public too was unaware of until the feature’s release. A massive critical and commercial success, “Silmido” would go on to be the first Korean production to attract over 10 million viewers and eighteen years since its release, it still sits comfortably within the top 20 highest-grossing Korean films of all time at the domestic box office.

Rumors of a Van Halen super tour with both David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar fronting the band circulated frequently during the past few years, often egged on by Hagar himself. But it wasn’t until after Eddie Van Halen died that the world learned that the trek was actually in the planning stages just about two years ago.
“At a certain point it turned into what we joked as the Kitchen Sink Tour,” Wolfgang Van Halen recently told Howard Stern. “Cause after [my dad] was Ok with that arrangement, it was like,...

I have to be honest, on paper the new Netflix original game show series Sing On is my type of show! The whole premise of the show is that a group of singers compete to find the best karaoke singer in a sing-off with the most accurate singer going through each round. Additionally, this show is hosted by the icon that is Titus Burgess and to me, he is the perfect host for the show. All this combines together to make the wonderfully calm style of show that I personally love crammed full of incredible songs and performances throughout.
I absolutely Love Titus Burgess and really enjoy the camp energy he brings to the show. He is just his character from The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt who is incredibly sassy and wonderfully flamboyant that everything he does is iconic. Not only is he entertaining in this role, but what people have...

I’ll say this much for Carole Baskin: she knew her brand on “Dancing with the Stars” and leaned into it with good humor. Known for her devotion to exotic cats on “Tiger King” (and accused of less savory things in the true-crime documentary series), she gave feline-themed performances in all three weeks she spent in the competition. So it was fitting that she ended her run on “Disney Night” dressed in a head-to-toe lion costume for her routine to “Circle of Life” from “The Lion King.” Watch it above.
Baskin got off on the wrong foot this season, earning the lowest score in the season premiere episode for her “Eye of the Tiger” paso doble. The next week she improved enough with her Viennese waltz that the judges decided to keep her in the competition after she landed in the bottom two (they booted Charles Oakley instead). But...

Carole Baskin received the lowest score during the season premiere episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” so she’s a goner when the first celeb is eliminated in week two, right? Not necessarily. The fans we’ve surveyed here in our predictions center say she’s definitely at risk, but they predict another celebrity will be sent home instead, and there’s good reason to think so.
The second lowest scorer of night one, basketball legend Charles Oakley, is the star our readers expect to get the boot first. He gets leading 71/20 odds of being eliminated from the competition. NBA veterans haven’t done as well on the show as athletes from other disciplines like football, gymnastics and ice skating, in part because the height difference between them and their pro partners can be difficult to work around. That did trip up Oakley and his partner Emma Slater on night one,...

Carole Baskin is on the prowl to bring animal abusers to justice.
The big cat activist, of “Tiger King” and now “Dancing With the Stars” fame, and her husband Howard Baskin are teaming with ITV America’s Thinkfactory Media for a new unscripted series exposing those who engage in animal cruelty, Variety has learned exclusively.
The as-yet-untitled series will feature the Baskins, alongside others, as they spotlight the histories, lawsuits and animal rights violations associated with various organizations. Sources say the project will be taken to market imminently and pitched to multiple broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.
“This is a chance for us to use our new platform to battle the everyday evils facing big cats and so many other animals,” said the Baskins in a joint statement. “Working with Thinkfactory on this show will help us further our life’s mission, while bringing important stories and information to ‘cool...

Fact: Not everyone fell under the spell of Tiger King's delightful draw. On Monday, Sept. 14 season 29 of Dancing With the Stars premiered (to a three-year ratings high!) and audiences waited with bated breath for the debut of Carole Baskin, the owner of a big-cat rescue in Florida who's at the center of the aforementioned hit Netflix docuseries. Baskin's performance to "Eye of the Tiger" (how appropriate) wasn't very good—she scored an 11 out of 30 points—yet headlines surrounding Dancing With the Stars largely remain focused on her. Why? As Tiger King fans might recall, rival cat lover Joe Exotic alleged Baskin killed her ex-husband, Don Lewis, and that she fed him to her...

As “Tiger King” star Carole Baskin made her debut performance on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” Monday, the family of her late husband, Don Lewis, was airing a commercial asking for answers about his mysterious disappearance.
To no one’s surprise, Baskin’s first number was “Eye of the Tiger” (watch that clip here). But all the dancing in the world won’t ease the minds of Lewis’ family — so they’re asking the general public to come forward with any information they might know.
The commercial slot, which was first reported by TMZ, centers on Lewis’ three daughters — Gale, Lynda and Donna — his former assistant, Anne McQueen and the family attorney, John M. Phillips. Together, they offer a $100,000 reward for information about their father’s 1997 disappearance, and Phillips asks viewers point-blank if they know whether Baskin was involved. Dancing With the Stars is back!
The veteran ABC reality series returned with a new host in Tyra Banks, a new judge in Derek Hough, and some of the most controversial contestants to date.
ABC opted to leave us hanging about who the celebrity dancers would be paired with ahead of the premiere in an attempt to keep people in suspense.
Banks, who has appeared on a string of reality TV series, was visibly nervous upon her debut. There has been a lot of backlash in recent weeks because the show fired Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.
It's likely she will settle into the role in the coming weeks.
Now, let's move on to the winners and losers of the premiere.

Carole Baskin is known for her animal activism, among other things, as portrayed in the Netflix documentary series “Tiger King,” so it was no surprise that she danced to “Eye of the Tiger” as her first routine on “Dancing with the Stars” season 29. Carole Baskin faced scrutiny on “Tiger King” over the disappearance of her husband Don Lewis in 1997, and Lewis’ family reignited the mystery with a commercial that aired during Baskin’s debut on “Dancing With the Stars.”
The commercial aired during the “Dancing With the Stars” telecast Monday night in Tampa and Jacksonville, as well as other markets, Variety has confirmed. Lewis’ daughters, former assistant and family attorney asked that viewers with any information on Lewis’ disappearance or Baskin’s alleged involvement reach out to a tip line. They also said a $100,000 reward has been funded for the investigation.
Lewis’ disappearance became a hotly debated topic after people watched “Tiger King” on Netflix earlier this year. Many viewers, including several people interviewed on “Tiger King,” have alleged that Baskin killed Lewis by feeding him to tigers and disposing of any evidence in a meat grinder. For all the changes “Dancing with the Stars” is undergoing for Season 29, it’s still as predictable as ever. Because “Tiger King” star Carole Baskin is performing the paso doble to Survivor‘s “Eye of the Tiger,” so you can cover that spot on your bingo card now. Last week, I was tasked with picking my favorite moments from the Rocky series for a piece tied to the release of “40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of a Classic,” now available on digital platforms. As a result, I ended up consuming all eight “Rocky” movies (including the two “Creed” films) over the course of 72 hours. In addition to feeling energized and a need to hum “Eye of the Tiger” nonstop, here’s a few things I picked up on during that marathon.
It’s Not About Winning — Or Boxing
Because “Rocky” went on to create a legacy of indelible characters and make over $1.7 billion at the box office, people remember cheering the big fights at the end of the films. But the first “Rocky” has virtual no boxing outside of the final match with Apollo Creed; it’s more of a character study and a love story between...
