What a treat

I think I am the one and only person that remembers this television show. I remember recording this show after we got our first VCR. I liked the whole beach/ice cream parlor theme as a 8 year old. I even remember the Beach Boys sounding theme song. I wish these old shows were still in reruns when I start reminiscing.

loved the show
tidnee6 June 2007
I loved this show. I think the first time I tried rocky road ice cream was due to this show. Wasn't the shop located like right on the beach or something? I actually wrote back and forth with Marci for several years. I lost touch and wish I could reconnect now as adults. Anyone know where she is now? I wish they would put it out on DVD. I seriously doubt that since I think there maybe like five or six people who even remember the show airing in the first place. They just don't make shows like this anymore, do they? I wonder if it would still hold up in this day and age. Do you guys know anyone that could burn DVD's of the show they taped on VHS? I'd be willing to pay(within reason).

TBS Shows From Back Then
fondan20 November 2006
TBS used to have a whole lineup of this type show. They came on in the afternoons from about 4 to 5 o'clock.Does anyone remember the names of any of the others? I can remember what a few of them were about but I don't remember the names of them. One was about the spirit of a lady from the 1920's who took care of a family from the 80's. She was like their maid or something. Another one had a bachelor who took his teenage sister in after their parents passed away. My sister and I watched these shows everyday when we were kids. I was glad to see someone other than me remembers them. I would like to watch them now. I'll bet that they are pretty corny, but everything seems better if it's part of your childhood I guess.

Looking for episodes of any type
KING-GUARDIAN2 December 2021
I absolutely loved the show as a kid and still enjoy watching the pieces of episodes that you can find on YouTube. It was a great family fun show for a younger generation, Although somewhat silly at times it's still brings back good memories.

If there is anyone out there that has episodes of any kind that would be willing to share please let me know.

Rocky Road

The show originally starred Maylo McCaslin playing the role of the big sister along with Lily Moon as the younger sister. During the 2nd season Desiree Boschetti replaced her and Marcianne Warman replaced Lily Moon. In the 4th season is when Lewis Arquette and Sandy (Jim Menza) who played the cop was replaced by a man and his son who bought Lewis Arquette's Bait shop. Georg Olden played Robbi the brother and Kelly Ann Conn as (cant remember her name) the blonde sexy woman through the life of the show. The show aired on TBS and was produced by the Arthur Company (Arthur Annechario) who also produced the Munsters Today (remember that?) Safe at Home & Down to Earth were all produced by this company. During the later episodes of Down to Earth, this was taken over by Proctor & Gamble.

I can remember the theme song to this show. Its about siblings that live and run an ice cream shop on the beach after their parents die. My favorite character was the older sister and I remember writing her a fan letter and sending it to the show. She did write back and sent an autographed picture of herself and had drawn a a picture of an ice cream cone on it. I kept it for a long time but it has disappeared over the years. I wish I still had it. I looked forward to watching the show everyday after school.I am so happy to see Rocky Road is on here and that others remember it. I finally have proof to show my husband and friends that I am not crazy and this show DID exist.

Not groundbreaking, nothing new, but, it was funny

This TV series was one of a handful of originally produced comedies for TBS, Turner Broadcasting. Along with shows like "The New Leave It To Beaver" and "Down To Earth," "Rocky Road" was not anything original. It had been done before: people inherit a business (ice cream parlor) from family and have to make a go of it. Airing on weekends, given a Friday time slot, "Rocky Road" was still an entertaining enough show. It provided a constant series of good enough laughs that one didn't waste their time if they watched it. Better than "The New Leave It To Beaver," but not as good as "Down To Earth." Like many short lived sitcoms, "Rocky Road" is probably best remembered, by those who know, for its theme song: "Welcome to the home of the family's very own: Rocky, Rocky Road!"

While this series will probably forever languish in a vault, if tapes even still exist of it, if some station ever programmed it in, you won't be disappointed with investing 22 minutes into it. Lewis Arquette's character was my particular favorite, and well worth watching just for his appearances.

This show was on TBS in the 80's

I remember watching this show on Superstation WTBS (now just TBS). I use to watch it after school. The biggest things I remember about it was that there was a big cast change and the cop guy started having a crush on the woman running the ice cream shop who replaced another woman. There was also an episode where a girl had to eat a whole bottle of ketchup. It would be nice to be able to see these shows again. I miss my childhood. This was also back in the time when TBS use to start all of their shows five minutes past the hour or half hour. The other show that use to be shown with this one on TBS was "Down to Earth" that featured Dick Sargent of Bewitched fame.

For the longest time, I believed I was the only one who watched this show.

I am so thankful for the information on this website. I have found no other site that mentions the show "Rocky Road." For a while, I thought I'd just made it up in my imagination, but I'm glad to know otherwise. I won't summarize, because the previous comment did that very well, but I do remember a woman on the show named Sandy (long curly blonde hair) who was not mentioned. So far as I know, the show has never been syndicated, although I'd be so grateful if it were.

Vague Memory
herricklane27 October 2009
I was thinking for a long time that maybe I made this show up. I was just 5 when this show was on, but I still have a memory of it. I remember an episode where one of the female characters was injured or not feeling well or maybe the younger kids wanted something... but anyway they were using pillows to try to make her comfortable by elevated her head and feet and went overboard with it.. practically bending her in half. Anyone else remember this? Or am I crazy?

I would really love to watch this show again now that I'm older and can really enjoy it. Right now I'm re watching Charles In Charge.

I can't help it. I get nostalgic for my childhood. One day I may even watch Punky Brewster and Mr. Belvedere again. lol

So glad i'm not crazy!

I've talked about this show so many times and my husband says he has never heard of it or a couple of other shows that i use to love. I was beginning to think i just imagined it. Rocky Road, Down to Earth and there was another show- Rags to Riches- not sure what channel that show was on though. But i loved watching these shows! Good family friendly shows that made people laugh and also had a message behind it. I wish they would show re-runs of some of these old shows. Is there any way to request that? Maybe they could at least run a few episodes and see if people will tune in. I know i would! Does anyone know if any of these shows were ever available on VHS or DVD?

The plot
brizip8 January 2000
"Rocky Road" was a television sitcom about a family-run ice cream parlor on the beach. The parents, who owned the parlor, had recently died, and their three children inherited and ran the parlor. The three kids (the eldest daughter, the middle son, and the youngest daughter)all lived above the ice cream shop. The plot lines generally revolved around family relations and random funny things that happened around the parlor.
