Slayer’s classic 1983 debut album, Show No Mercy, is set to receive a 40th anniversary edition vinyl reissue via Metal Blade.
The reissue arrives February 9th in two configurations. The first is a “deluxe-edition” style set featuring a slipcase that houses the LP on “Gold Black Dust” colored vinyl, a turntable slipmat, poster, replica show flyers, and a signing card. It retails for $64.99.
Alternatively, hardcore Slayer fans might be tempted by the extremely limited “Blood Filled” liquid vinyl variant. Limited to 250 copies worldwide, the LP itself is a wonder to behold, as it appears to be actually filled with blood. It would appear the vinyl required a costly production process, as this edition — which does not include the aforementioned ephemera in the standard “deluxe” version — will set you back $199.99 (though the record is sure to become a collectible).
Both copies feature a fresh remastering job by Patrick W. Engel, who...

Longtime Metal Church drummer Kirk Arrington died Monday, May 22nd, at the age of 61.
The band shared the news of Arrington’s passing in a social media statement on Monday night, writing, “We just received the sad news, Kirk Arrington passed away this morning due to health issues. Rip in brother! See you on the other side….#Rip #legend #gonetoosoon #MetalChurch #drummer”.
In 2006, Arrington exited Metal Church due to health issues stemming from years of coping with diabetes. Since then, his post behind the kit has been assumed by Jeff Plate and Stet Howland (W.A.S.P.), who is the group’s current drummer.
Arrington joined Metal Church in the early 1980s prior to the band signing to Elektra and dropping its seminal self-titled album in 1984. Songs like “Beyond the Black” are early examples of the thrash/speed metal style, and the LP — which had future Pantera producer Terry Date behind the...

Following the hugely successful revival of their long-dormant Doom series, id Software has set its sights on doing the same with another of its beloved franchises. Quake Champions, which was first announced during this year’s E3, will be the first of its name to be released since 2007’s Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and is already looking fantastic.
The first gameplay footage for the arena shooter was unveiled at QuakeCon this week, showcasing the high-octane action and over-the-top weaponry that the series has become known for since its inception. You can watch the debut trailer above but be warned: you’ll want to be wearing your nostalgia goggles.
The description reads:
Packed with blazing-fast action and explosive rocket jumps you know and love, get first look at the game’s Champions – including new characters and franchise favorites.

If you haven't heard of British developer Splash Damage, you'll probably have heard of its games: the studio has brought us the multiplayer shooter Brink, the free-to-play Dirty Bomb, and previously worked on such games as Doom 3, Return To Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein Enemy Territory.
In a curious turn of events, Splash Damage is now under the ownership of a Chinese company called Leyou Technologies - an outfit previously dedicated to the processing and selling of poultry. In other words, Leyou's gone from chicken farming to game development, with its aim being to "focus on building a diversified portfolio of profitable video gaming studios".
That diversification began in 2015, when Leyou acquired a significant percentage of Digital Extremes, the Canadian studio behind Warframe and The Darkness 2. When...

Dollman
Stars: Tim Thomerson, Jackie Earle Haley, Kamala Lopez, Humberto Ortiz, Nicholas Guest, Judd Omen, Frank Collison | Written by Chris Roghair | Directed by Albert Pyun
Former funnyman, turned TV stalwart, turned action star, Tim Thomerson had already made a name for himself in the Empire Pictures/Full Moon franchise Trancers before spoofing the very same character and his take no crap persona in Dollman for one of my favourite directors, Albert Pyun.
Brick Bardo (Thomerson) is a traveller from outer space who is forced to land on Earth. Though regular sized on his home planet, he is doll-sized here on Earth,...

Released during the high point in Full Moon’s relationship with Paramount Pictures, Seedpeople was heavily advertised on its original UK release back in 1992, with ads appearing in many of the horror magazines of the period – including full page ads on the back and inside cover of The Dark Side (which ran for months on end I recall). The film itself wasn’t as successful as the other notable franchises in the Full Moon stable, with many reviews at the time noting that the film was a rip-off of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and essentially that’s what the movie is: a tongue-in-cheek alien invasion flick that echoes the feel of low-budget sci-fi flicks of the 1950s.

If you have a question about a TV show, make sure to drop me a line at spoilerroom@ew.com. Thanks as always for your participation/thoughts/comments/questions/witty banter.
And because I know you secretly miss my rambling introduction:
‘The Following’: Claire In ‘Enemy Territory’
Let’s admit it: When Clarie got into the car with Joe Carroll’s goons at the end of Monday’s The Following, you threw something at the TV. Right?

Splash Damage has been making multiplayer games for a decade now, starting in the days of "Quake 3." In recent years, the scope and scale of their games have expanded, with titles like "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars," which features massive maps and requires intra-team cooperation. Although the scale of their latest game, "Brink," is not quite as massive, it's just as ambitious. And while it impressive conceptually, and quite fun when it works, there are serious concerns which hinder it from being a threat to games like "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" and "Call of Duty: Black Ops."
The Basics
"Brink" is a multiplayer game where-in two teams of eight battle it out over objectives scattered across a futuristic, floating city known as The Ark. Teamwork is mandatory here, as players select from four different classes, each with their own special abilities and objectives. For example, only the soldier can plant C...

Why should you care about "Brink"? Splash Damage, the developer, is probably the main reason. The studio previously did "Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory" and "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars," two games that don't suck at all. This is the first original game from Splash, and the team there brings a wealth of experience developing class-based online shooters to the table. There's a new trailer showing how that particular background has informed "Brink" after the jump, as well as some tantalizing UK pre-orders for the game that will hopefully be coming to the United States as well.
So in addition to this trailer, Bethesda announced a fairly huge assortment of pre-order goodies today. The only problem is, they're UK-only. Cue the sad trombone. For now, at any rate.
The bonuses are particularly appealing because they shout out to some other notable franchises, specifically "Fallout" and "Doom." There are a few other packs as well,...

Kevin Costner's $$200m blockbuster Waterworld gained the rather unfortunate title of 'biggest box office bomb of all time' after its release in 1995. The film's future vision of a world where the polar ice caps have melted forcing people to live on sea-based settlements was certainly brave, but its production was plagued with setbacks, including the entire multi-million dollar set collapsing after a hurricane. So, it's with this ominous omen that Splash Damage, maker of 2003's Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, readies its new water-based, first-person shooter, Brink. The game - published by Bethesda Softworks - takes place on the Ark, a floating city established by a group of intrepid trailblazers, eager to try a new life on the water. The city was designed as a self-sustaining model for future living, but, inevitably, things went drastically (more)...

Bethesda Softworks is definitely going to close out 2011 on a high note, with "Rage" out in September and "The Edler Scrolls 5: Skyrim" following it in November. Today the publisher also confirmed the mid-year release dates on two other titles that they're currently working on: "Brink" and "Hunted: The Demon's Forge."
"Brink" hits stores on May 17th. The Splash Damage-developed game is an online-oriented, story-based first-person shooter for up to 8 players with cooperative and competitive elements. Players select from one of several classes and then team up to complete a variety of objectives, all of which rely in some fashion on the combined strengths of the group. It's supposed to be a pretty fast-paced game too, with parkour-like movement through the environments (think: "Mirror's Edge"). There are obvious connections to be made back to "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars," Splash Damage's solid MP-only spin-off that failed to capture a console audience.

When movie lovers think of a lone hero trapped in a high-rise controlled by bad guys, the classic Bruce Willis actioner Die Hard comes to mind. Released in 1988, the film made Willis more than just that guy from Moonlighting and started a new genre, the contained space action movie. Soon other films were copying Die Hard's spatial premise with thrillers of their own that became “Die Hard on a _____”. Die Hard wasn't the first film to have this premise – The Big Clock (1948) later remade as No Way Out (1987) comes to mind – just the first to do it really well. About a year prior, Charlie Band, who would strike gold with the Dtv Puppet Master horror films, produced a small action movie set in New York about an insurance salesman who finds himself in a Die Hard situation with a local gang. Garry Frank plays Barry, an insurance salesman who's...
