Sex & Nudity

  • In a brothel, two soldiers are shown in a tub bath with two naked prostitutes; bare breasts and bare chests are seen. Sex is implied.
  • Two women are shown topless bathing with a couple of the main characters.
  • Some mild sexual references
  • At one point in the film a soldier is shown looking at a sex magazine. Only breasts are shown. Very brief

Violence & Gore

  • An American soldier fires an M60 machine gun at an N.V.A. soldier's head, exploding it upon impact. An American soldier is found impaled on stakes planted in the ground. An N.V.A. soldier is shot in the head with bloody results. A soldier is thrown by an explosion. When we next see him, his intestines are hanging out. Soldiers are blown up by mines. A man's arm is shot off and he isn't aware until seeing it. There is plenty of random gun violence as a result of the many gunfights and shootouts in the film.

Profanity

  • Frequent profanity, including uses of "Jesus", "Christ," and "Goddamn."
  • The 'f' word is used repeatedly throughout
  • Non-profane yet insulting: numerous uses of racially-derogatory words for black Americans, and those of at least 6 or 7 other nationalities.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Soldiers smoke and drink throughout. In at least one of the bar scenes, an obviously drunk soldier really hauls off and hits another, bloodying his face.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The war violence is pervasive and quite graphic.
