Following the life of a few magpies in a city environment
This is a documentary of the lives of a few magpies during a short period in a late eighties winter in Stockholm. It isn't like the average nature documentary though. There is no narrative whatsoever, the only audible human voices belonging to random passer-bys and radio news programs played on car stereos.
After calming down a bit and getting into the pace of the movie, you really start to take an interest in what the birds are doing. A lot of focus seems to be on a couple that are building a large nest in a tree just outside a Shell station. Also, the camera pans a lot over the buildings, lawnmowers and people that live in the area, showing some enjoyable eighties-style cars, hairdos and low gasoline prices.
If you feel like watching something out of the ordinary, try this movie. I guess it will be hard to come by though, if you don't watch a lot of re-runs on Swedish state television (I saw it on "Kunskapskanalen" by chance).
