A selection of prisoners is going on a bus trip to a protest rally. Alex manages to escape with help from his mother and sister (disguised as nuns). Faber and Uckles, chained together, also get involved in the great escape.
On the day Faber is granted an early parole, he learns his wife has left him and taken all of his money. Uckels gets into a scrape with a fellow inmate and Faber gets the blame.
Snoek has a new escape plan to coincide with the prison snooker tournament. But he will first have to lose some weight if he wants to fit through a bathroom window.
As soon as the new director, Sophia Schollevaar, arrives she begins criticizing Miechels and Ten Bruggencate on their way of conduct. Meanwhile Uckels and Bruce get on each others nerves and refuse to share a cell any longer.
Miechels & Ten Bruggencate are on edge because dangerous Irish terrorist Ken McInneconneckie is staying at the prison. To make matters worse, there is a blackout all over the island.
When most of B-wing ends up with a hernia, after digging in the mud for warden Miechels, director Schollevaar takes it upon herself to teach a light aerobic class.
New inmate Ernst Rochel claims to possess an actual study by Rembrandt and asks Bruce to paint a layer over it to disguise it. Director Schollevaar finds herself attracted to the charismatic former art dealer.
The prison is suffering from a heatwave. When Miechel's precious ping-pong balls are stolen, he orders every prisoner out in the yard until they've been found.
Sophia Schollevaar has been director for three months and thinks she is already universally hated. However, the warders are organizing a belated welcoming party.
Rochel and director Schollevaar have a secret meeting so he can evaluate some stored artwork. But they end up stuck together while warden Miechels searches the entire island.
Schollevaar has invented a new points system to evaluate the prison staff. This leads to great competitiveness between Miechels & Ten Bruggencate. Meanwhile Uckels is afraid his girlfriend has been unfaithful while on holiday.
Miechels is not pleased with Schollevaar's new visiting room, where prisoners can have intercourse with guests. Rochel manages to book Peer's young niece and her singing group for Ten Bruggencate's music appreciation group.
Miechels and Ten Bruggecate have a falling out on account of the annual children's play. The B-wing gets a temporary addition in the form of a hardened criminal from the States.
When Rochel complaints about Johan's cookery the director decides to give him one last chance at a grand diner with a glass of wine. But Rochel manages to get his hands on the case of wine first.
The moment Rochel is reunited with his old pal Mario de Mol several of the prisoner's possessions begin to disappear. But it is Uckels who gets blamed.
When Hoebe is replaced by his young intern, Maarten Bijl, Rochel sees him as a rival for the director's affections and becomes jealous. She decides the two of them should duel it out, and Maarten chooses to play a game of checkers.
Krukas refuses to meet with his handicapped but more successful brother Charles. The Director plans to publish a booklet of letters written by the prisoners.
The prison has been equipped with surveillance cameras. This means warden Holst has become redundant. When the other guards decide to stick up for him and strike, only Schollevaar & Hoenstra are left to take care of the prisoners.
