Compulsory viewing for Osama bin Laden and all members of the the al-Qaeda
uds32 November 2001
A majorly relevant topic following the events of September 11th 2001. Monica Cameron plays German academic Monica Schleyer, who is brought to Australia to lecture authorities specifically on counter-terrorism both in terms of new techniques and dealing with potential innocent victim trauma. She profiles the psychology of the terrorist and the ingrained fanaticism usually present.

Almost 'experimental' in nature and filmed in a semi-documentary style, AGAINST THE INNOCENT highlights the risks inherent in setting up anti-terrorist organizations, especially in a country like Australia that has not the necessary expertise or exposure to large scale terrorist activity.

By no means an action-fest and unlikely to appeal to the broad spectrum of viewers, it is nevertheless a responsibly-made movie with quite good performances and a solid direction by Darryl Delora. Cameron is fine as Monica Schleyer and Paul Schutze provides a solid musical score.

Had pretty limited theatrical release and is rarely seen on TV these days. Interested viewers might like to check their video libraries.
