A House Like This - A Tale of Redemption and Revenge
sanahashamkhan23 February 2024
"Ghar Ho To Aisa" is a 1990 Indian Hindi-language drama film that showcases superb acting by the dynamic duo, Anil Kapoor and Meenakshi Sheshadri. The film, directed by Kalpataru and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, revolves around the dysfunctional Kumar family and the transformative journey led by the younger son, Amar.

The movie boasts an impressive cast with standout performances from Meenakshi Sheshadri as the feisty daughter-in-law, providing a stark contrast to Deepti Naval's portrayal of the meek oppressed daughter-in-law. Bindu, playing her trademark negative mother-in-law character, adds depth to the narrative with convincing conviction.

The film explores themes of greed, abuse, and redemption within a family, making it a compelling watch. Anil Kapoor's portrayal of Amar, the honest and kind-hearted youth, is commendable. Meenakshi Sheshadri shines in her role as Seema, bringing forth a character that evolves from hatred to love.

The plot takes an interesting turn when Amar and Seema decide to seek revenge on the toxic Kumar family. The narrative is filled with twists and turns as they infiltrate the household, leading to moments of tension, drama, and ultimately, redemption.

The film's strength lies in its social commentary, addressing issues of domestic abuse and toxic family dynamics. The contrast between the characters adds layers to the storyline, making it engaging for the audience.

While the performances and storyline are commendable, some portions of the film may feel melodramatic and predictable. The movie successfully delivers its message, but the execution at times falls into conventional Bollywood tropes.

In conclusion, "Ghar Ho To Aisa" is a well-acted drama that explores important societal issues. The chemistry between Anil Kapoor and Meenakshi Sheshadri, coupled with the strong supporting cast, elevates the film. While it may not be a cinematic masterpiece, it certainly offers a satisfying blend of drama, emotion, and a message of redemption.

Serious Stuff..with Post interval Fun...GREAT

Ghar ho to aisa is a powerful and shocking family drama. It tells the story of a selfish family with Father (Sayeed Jaferi), Mother (Bindu), Two Brothers (Anil Kapoor) and (Raj Kiran), Brothers wife (Depti Naval), One Sister and her Husband (Kader Khan) and kid. Anil, Kader, Kader's Son and Depti are the good hearted people in this film.

It tells the storyline of Depti, who is the poor daughter in law and is treated absolutely bad. She gets tortured and beaten up by the evil mother in law Bindu, husband and sister. The sad thing about this, is that this kind of things happen for real. Many poor girls get married off and are treated like dirt, mainly because they cant go back to their mothers. This film demonstrates when Depti is forced to bring a big amount of money from her mother, otherwise she cant live in this house. Her mother is a servant, who lives alone in a almost damaged house as it is. There are many powerful and shocking stuff in this film. Its best if you see it for yourself.

Anil gives yet another Great performance. Meenakshi is Fun in the second half as she teaches the family a lesson, Watching Depti makes you upset, she gives a good performance. Kader Khan provides comedy and is magnificent as the Ghar Jamai (Meaning, the Man who lives in his in Laws). Bindu delivers a superb performance as the mother in law from hell. Raj Kiran is always playing the same role of the evil member of the family. All Supprting cast do a good job.

A Great Family Drama with Serious stuff and Fun in the second half.

Great movie.. Great lessons which some people still need to learn

I remember watching this movie when I was a child.. it taught me some very big life lessons.. some good acting from all the Actors with Kader Khan comedy timing being impeccable.

But the story and lesson itself was something that was greater than the movie.. nearly 31 years later this should still be a movie where people should see and learn from..

They don't make movies like this anymore.. simplicity is and will always stay beautiful

too good movie

Warning: Spoilers
It is an epic family drama which is a reflection of typical Indian families. The actors, director have done a fantastic job. Especially, Kadar Khan, Anil Kapoor and Meenakshi Sheshadri have done wonderful work.

This is one of my favorite movie. When useless romantic films get the ratings of more than 7/10, this movie deserves 10/10. I have watched it more than 100 times...

I would like people to watch this movie at least once in their life. This movie shows the true face of greedy people and how to teach lesson to them. It was released in 1990 but still nothing has changed in India.
