Something went terribly wrong
lor_25 October 2016
This long-running series holds little for the fans after the first few classics shot by Kirdy Stevens. Heavyweights Ron Sullivan/Henri Pachard (directing) and Richard Mailer (story & exec producer) weighed in for this edition and ought to be ashamed.

If someone had been photographing me watching this farrago, I'm sure they would have recorded my jaw dropping many times, so ridiculous is the action portrayed. Ostensibly a relatively lavish production set at a horse ranch, the story has no perceptible taboos to warrant inclusion in this series, and everything about it - script, direction, acting, even sexual content, is botched.

Mailer's story is pure corn, reminding me of a better Adam & Eve film that was an actual Western, "Rawhide", made a couple of decades later. Randy West is the evil land developer out to get hold of Barry McKay's ranch, using a former rodeo star Mike Horner to engineer a series of dirty tricks (worthy of the Nixon White House) to sabotage McKay. I'm assuming non-actor Barry aka Bruce is related to the video's Aussie star Sunny McKay based on their similar accents and the father/daughter casting.

What transpires over the next barely longer than an hour feature is constantly embarrassing and beyond bad. Director Pachard appears in a major role and Joey Silvera is the nominal hero, in one of his worst-ever acting performances - delivering his dialog with extreme unction. Even a solid thesp like Horner seems mighty uncomfortable here, while Randy is a transparent, 1-note villain.

The sex scenes are perfunctory and add up to a big question mark regarding why Sunny was ever groomed for stardom and even given so many starring roles for top labels during her early '90s career. The plot switches and gimmicks are consistently annoying and insulting.

A very lengthy cast of femmes is totally wasted, so much so that even watching carefully I could not pick out a favorite of mine Jeanna Fine, lost in the ensemble. Some of the most alluring and stimulating actresses get no sex scenes, such as Fine and Rachel Ashley, leading to pure frustration.

So we have plenty of horseback riding, atmospheric exterior scenes and the template for a potentially earthy film, all wasted and seemingly sabotaged. What a waste.
