The limousine used in the film is an early 1980s Ford Landau - in Brasil the Ford Landau was an upscale model of the Ford Galaxie 500 sold in Brasil since 1967 using the 1966 model year bodystyle (the Landau seen in the film had some styling motifs borrowed from a mid-1960s Lincoln Continental).
Mickey Rourke and Carré Otis were a couple at the time this film was made, and there is a persistent rumor that the sex scenes were not faked.
In a 2004 interview, Carré Otis denied the rumors that suggested the infamous last sex scene was real.
The hotel construction site was actually the skeleton of an abandoned hotel in Salvador, Bahia that was never completed. It was imploded a few years later, after decades of abandonment.
