The first Hong Kong film utilized Dolby Stereo sound mixing with digital location sound recording and mixing. Previously and until the mid-1990s, location sound recording and optical stereo sound were not the mainstream workflow in Hong Kong film productions, as its dialogue dubbing workflow was still popular. Even the 1997 film A Nice Guy began the use of Dolby Digital sound mix, monaural sound mix still remained mainstream by the end of 1990s.
