The same squint that George Hamilton gives is very similar to that of his other comedy film, Love at First Bite (1979) when Dracula uses it to hypnotize his intended victims to his will. In this film, the squint is mainly used as a device to make him look like the murderer.
This film cost $18,000,000 and took in just shy of $8,700,000 at the box office.
This is one of four films that Eugene Levy, Nancy Meyers and Charles Shyer worked on together (Father of the Bride, Father of the Bride II, I Love Trouble, and Once Upon a Crime....)
The late John Candy and Richard Lewis would appear together in what would tragically be Candy's last film three years later in Wagons East (1994), a Western comedy where Candy passed away during filming in Mexico.
Julian Peters (played by Richard Lewis) claims to an old woman he encounters on a train that he had a small part in The Godfather Part III. Co-star George Hamilton did, in fact, have a small part in The Godfather Part III.
