This was created as a promotional tie-in to Meat Loaf's album of the same name, which was his follow-up to the hugely successful "Bat Out Of Hell".
When stunt coordinator Alex Stevens needed 18 bikers for Meat Loafs motorcycle crew, he asked co-stunt coordinator Sandy Alexander, who was the President of the New York City Hells Angels for help. Sandy hired 18 Hells Angels for the movie, to portray Meat Loafs motorcycle gang.
