A most unusual installment of "American Experience".
"Duke Ellington: Reminiscing in Tempo" is one of the more unusual episodes of "American Experience". This is because unlike nearly all the episodes, this one is NOT biographical and is much more the style show you'd expect on another PBS documentary series, "American Masters". It follows Ellington as a bandleader and writer...discussing his style, work ethic, etcetera without divulging much of anything about his personal life...such as marriage, children, and his early life. It did talk, just a bit, about his later years...but not enough to make it all that biographical. Despite this, it IS interesting and worth seeing. But it clearly is missing something...the HUMAN part of the man.
