Arrow Video’s line of Niko Mastorakis releases continues with early 80s exploitationer Blood Tide, a film that has more behind the scenes pedigree than you’d imagine or expect!
The sheer names connected with the film – which is produced and co-written by Mastorakis, with Brian Trenchard-Smith, credited a creative consultant And Richard Jeffries (who’d later go on to direct the fantastic Scarecrows and The Vagrant) behind the camera – is remarkable. It’s a veritable who’s who of genre filmmaking in the 70s and 80s, all coming together to make a film that feels fantastically Lovercraftian.

A good horror flick injects fear into aspects of our everyday lives, and home invasion (and manipulation) has that in spades, as seen in The Vagrant (1992), starring Bill Paxton (Aliens, Twister, Titanic), which is getting the Blu-ray treatment courtesy of Scream Factory this May.
From Scream Factory: “We are now taking pre-orders for our upcoming release of the 1992 horror comedy The Vagrant which makes its Blu-ray format debut in the U.S. & Canada! Release date is planned for May 23rd.
Ambitious young executive Graham Krakowski (Bill Paxton–Aliens, Titanic) has plotted out every move of this life and career. What he didn’t plan on was a creepy vagrant living opposite his new home. And when the mysterious man (Marshall Bell–Total Recall, Virus) sneaks into Graham’s home and starts playing sick mind games, he is driven to take matters into his own hands. Detective Ralf Barfuss (Michael Ironside...

Another Friday has passed and that means two titles never before released on DVD have been announced by the Scream Factory. You may not remember The Vagrant but odds are you remember The Horror Show and have been wondering if it would ever see the light of day again.
The big title of this week’s Scream Factory announcement is unquestionably The Horror Show, or as it is known in some foreign circles, House III. I never understood how anyone came to the conclusion that film could be released as a third installment of the House franchise, but then I also have never understood how a movie about killer radioactive tree roots could be marketed as Troll 3.
In much the same way Hollywood gave us dueling volcano films (Volcano and Dante’s Peak) and dueling celestial doomsday flicks (Armageddon and Deep Impact), 1989 saw the release of dueling fright flicks about...

Why should you buy the soundtracks of Christopher Young? Well, for instance the music is quite good on some of them. And if you want to have more fun with the release, check out the tracklisting. You're bound to find somehing along the lines of "Accelerated Brundle Disease" or "Dancing With a Wet Handkerchief on Your Mother's Grave". But wait, there's more! The CD of Hush for intance contains the following titles: "Hush", "Little Baby", "Don't You Cry", "Mama's Gonna Buy", "You", "A". It's all fun. If you pay close attention, you might also find that several Young releases contain pun homages to famous composers as well. Below I've gathered all I could find, now it's up to you to guess which composers are referenced in the track titles. I might add that some of them are only guesses and I couldn't find references some of Young's biggest works...

Two special effects vets are cooking up new films at Wiseacre Films. Chris Walas, who's been absent from the scene, is in line to direct Baby Zombies . The film recently popped up as a new listing on the IMDBPro which made us dig a bit further until we found this page which sports artwork and some more details. Walas last directed The Vagrant (remember the video box with a screaming Bill Paxton?) in '92 and before that, the underrated The Fly II . According to the Wiseacre site, he's nurturing Baby Zombies with Ethan Wiley ( House , House II: The Second Story ). Here's the rub: The listing on the site says the film begins production in April...of 2008. Yet, on the site's news page , it says it will go into production this year. Either way, we'll keep an eye on the...
