6.5 Stars here!

I thought it was very funny, realistic, and unpredictable, in the sense that no one knew whether the couple would marry or not at the end. But he does something very touching and surprising for her which catches her off guard and makes her think differently about their union together. It was filmed not far from where I grew up in Vermont and my family remembers when it was being filmed. It seemed so real, that I didn't think it was a movie, more than a couple filming their life experiences together in Vermont in preparation for their wedding. I like it. It was old-school quality film, but worth one viewing. I gave it a 6.5 Star because of it's content and humor. Watch it to judge for yourself.

Cute and endearing, encapsulates rural ideas on marriage

I wasn't the only one in the New Zealand theatre when this rolled round the country on the festival circuit, but it was hardly a packed house either. Which was a shame, as there were tonnes of great truisms, anecdotes, wry smiles, and honest to goodness country wisdom comes through throughout its short duration. I remember feeling uplifted, happy at the human condition with all its tribulations, not so alone in my cynicism, and eager to visit Vermont. So much so it made me want to watch it again, but can't find it available to stream for the life of me.

Also recommend John O'Brien's excellent 'Man with a Plan'.

Most enjoyable

Not much happens in this apparently largely unscripted movie: George and Marya, two New Yorkers, go to her aunt's home in Vermont to get married. On the day before the ceremony George drives around the community talking to the locals (all played by themselves) about marriage, architecture, history and farming. However, this is all very entertaining and some of the locals are very funny. The animals are good, too: a beagle turns in an outstanding performance.
