Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan all rejected the role eventually played by Vicky Arora.Feroz Khans assistant went to Shah Rukh Khan to sign the film. When Shah Rukh asked for a narration of the film from Feroz Khan himself, the assistant director walked off. After this ordeal, a film journalist asked Feroz Khan his opinion on the new Khan actor's. He said "They were all 5 feet tall".

Feroz wanted to show the relationship between a grandfather and grandaughter in the film. This is the reason he could no longer make the role of a older brother.
