Dave sees an alligator crawl onto his property and calls animal control, who can find no trace of the gator. When this happens more than once, people think that Dave is either drunk or delirious. Why does the alligator keep disappearing?
Beth suggests that everyone try something new and different, so Dave buys a telescope and takes up astronomy. Mia and Shel consider skydiving together. Jobless Kenny rejects a lucrative newspaper job.
A local advertising campaign turns Dave into a celebrity. But soon, Shel and Kenny feel alienated when Dave forgets a prior commitment that he made to them both.
