Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers remain charming together
r96sk13 February 2021
Weakest of the first three TV films, still run-of-the-mill and OK to see unfold though.

I found nothing to dislike about 'Hart to Hart: Crimes of the Hart'. I mean, there isn't anything to support the contrary either but it's a fine watch for what it is. Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers remain charming together, while the plot has mildly interesting moments.

The definition of average, for me.

Max almost marries Mrs.Roper!
cgvsluis13 October 2020
I forgot how much I enjoyed Hart To Hart when I was a kid. Coast to coast travel, money is no object for this unstoppable dynamic duo. Bullets, crazy fans and a flat footed Richard Belzer(of Homicide Life on the streets/Law and Order: SVU fame) can't keep them down. This movie version of Hart to Hart is set in New York...it has some great iconic New York shots, including beautiful night shots of my favorite Art Deco building, the Chrysler Building. Jennifer gets roped in to contributing to the Broadway stage production of a musical about Jack the Ripper, in which due to an interesting idea by Jennifer, "Jack" is actually a woman who is abused and then neglected by her husband. There is the usual witty dialogue and jokes about New York, but what makes Hart to Hart enjoyable to watch is the relationship between husband and wife. Their relationship is mature, respectful and loving...something that doesn't get much screen time these days. Our beloved character Max, strikes up a relationship with the actress who played Mrs. Roper on Threes Company. The person who really stole this show was our quick talking New York detective played by Richard Belzer. The movie culminates in the bad guy getting caught, the show going on, and a song and dance number performed on stage by Hart to Hart and accompanied on piano by Max!

Hart to Hart in a theater

Warning: Spoilers
Remember how in the last Hart to Hart reunion movie where Mrs. H was a noted journalist? Well, now she's also a playwriter, bringing her college script about Jack the Ripper to the Great White Way. Mr. H, Max and Freeway come along for the ride, with Max nearly getting married to an old flame. And yes, many people die.

Richard Belzer plays Det. Frank Giordano here. No, he's not Detective John Munch, but you can forgive yourself if you think he is. He's only played that role on Homicide, Law & Order: SVU, The X-Files, The Beat, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, The Wire, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, the regular Law & Order and Jimmy Kimmel Live! Munch is the only character to appear on ten different shows on five different networks, which is pretty cool.

Audra Lindley (Mrs. Roper from Three's Company), John Stockwell (who would go on to direct Blue Crush and Kickboxer: Vengeance) and Lew Ayres (Dr. Klldare from the film series) all show up, too.

The bad guy has a mannequin of Jennifer in his basement with her photo stapled to it, so that's pretty creepy. He almost kills Jonathan in a basement that feels like Mario Bava lit it, but everything - as it always does - works out just fine.

Love these reunion movies

Warning: Spoilers
Jonathan and Jennifer visit New York City where Jennifer's play is being produced. Someone is trying to sabotage a Broadway production of a play Jennifer wrote in college. When one of the stage hands is murdered, even Jonathan is a suspect. The Harts don't have much time to ensure that the show will go on.

I'm glad to see that after the series had ended that they continued with these reunion movies. They are just as good as the series episodes. The chemistry with the main characters is still there and the action is as good as it gets. I loved the series and I love the reunion movies. A must see for any Hart to Hart fan!!
