Beth seeks the secret to business negotiations. Lisa requests a raise from Dave. Bill tries to get the staff to help him cover up a secret he's keeping from his latest girlfriend.
When Catherine is out sick, Bill puts Joe on the air in her place, expecting him to do badly. At the same time, Beth is inexplicably fascinated by Mr. James' weird, nerdy nephew.
Dave finally confronts Lisa about her relationship with Stewart, but his actions have dire consequences. Joe helps Bill and Catherine wage a prank war against each other - but why?
Once a year, Mr James plays poker with other station owners, and the stakes are pieces of their respective stations. Mr James loses the coffee machine, and then he loses Bill. Mr James realizes he's lost his magic, so Lisa plays as his proxy.
Matthew nearly loses it when he tries to get the staff to rent a house in the Hamptons together. Bill and Dave can't agree on a baseball promo, and spend an exhausting day with Mr James and a sound editor.
Joe is bothered by the building's new security cameras; Mr James thinks he's found the perfect wife candidate, though he just needs to find out what's wrong with her; and a fire in the building freaks Bill out, but makes Dave and Lisa hot under the collar.
Mr James announces he's running for President and challenges Lisa to dig up the dirt that will stop him. Beth, Joe, Catherine, and Bill hold an intervention to convince Matthew to shave off his mustache.
Matthew believes he's discovered "Dilbert" and wants to do a special segment about it. Dave flatly refuses to allow it, and Matthew quits. The staff argues over an important review of the station, unable to agree whether it's good or bad.
Bill is devastated when Beth has the old sandwich machine removed from the office, and Dave is horrified when she replaces it with a classic arcade machine. Lisa is so worried she's losing her smarts that she re-takes her SATs.
The staff are upset when Mr James doesn't invite them to his big Halloween party because they think they're too cool to dress up. Lisa volunteers Dave to wear "the most outrageous costume ever" to get them into the party spirit.
Dave feels confident about WNYX's chances at a broadcasting awards dinner, but the staff doesn't share his enthusiasm after previous losses. Catherine invites Joe to be her guest at the black-tie affair but worries about what he will wear.
The office thermostat is broken, and the heat is getting to the staff, with everybody in the office having delusional daydreams. Dave deals with low station ratings.
All the staff wants to leave early for Christmas, which delays Lisa's meeting Dave's parents in Wisconsin. Matthew helps Mr. James pick gifts for his rich friends. Bill has Beth record a commercial with him.
