Great TV Movie
jkborn29 March 2004
I strongly agree with the previous reviewer. This was a fine little film that is certainly a cut above most TV movies. It is a sweet, but never cliched movie about life, and how the arts (in this case music) can help us wade through the difficulties of life. Since the entire movie revolves around the music of Frank Sinatra, any Sinatra fan will enjoy it. The acting and writing are fine, and of course, the music is splendid. I would really welcome a DVD release. In fact, it could even be marketed as Frank Sinatra's final acting appearance (which it was, even though it was only a cameo). Though it was almost a decade ago, I still remember it. By the way, I'm a reviewer in my twenties. I mention this only so younger readers won't think this is only for "old-timers". Sinatra fans of all ages will love it.

SUPERB PRESENTATION, ESPECIALLY FOR TV!

Our whole family enjoyed this film. Mr. Sinatra's appearance was the part we all eagerly awaited, and we were not disappointed. A great blend of narrative and nostalgia! I am usually a "one time" viewer; but, this one has the potential to be a classic. Perhaps someone will be insightful enough to at least air it on television again!

....a real tear-jerker, pull at your heart-strings kind of movie.

This is one of my favorite movies. The one drawback is in the title, since it has the same title as a movie made in 1954. But, the interesting thing is that Frank Sinatra stars in both movies. I think I like this movie better because of the happy ending. I am a fan of Frank Sinatra's singing, and there is plenty of that throughout this film. There are many plots going on...most anyone could relate to at least one of them. It is a real tear-jerker, pull at your heart-strings kind of movie. The movie I have is taped from the original TV movie shown on CBS. It doesn't have the best quality visually, so I sure would like to be able to locate a regular VHS video of it, and would also like to be able to purchase it in DVD form. But how? Where?

My Dad says a great film
turrell7021 September 2005
I've not seen this film personally but my Dad watched in on TV when it was aired in the UK on Channel 4 a few years ago. He has talked non-stop about it since then and I would desperately like to get him a VHS or DVD copy. I really do hope, as do the others on this noticeboard, that the film gets released soon, or that they play it again on TV in the UK. It would make my Dad's day to get a copy. The only problem is we'd have to scan the TV guides every day to check to see if it's coming on - not something we have the time to do. I'm tempted to contact Channel 4 or CBS and ask if they have plans to show it again or if they'd even consider letting me buy a copy from them. Desperate need calls for desperate measures!
