Ever since a big meeting last week week, where DC Cco Geoff Johns sat with megastar Dwayne Johnson and producers Hiram Garcia and Beau Flynn to discuss the future of the DC Extended Universe and see where Shazam! fits into things, there's been new buzz building around the film. Johnson has been attached to flick for two years now, having signed on to play Black Adam, and he's now feeling very confident about the project. Something that may very well be adding to his confidence is that Warner Bros. may hire a longtime collaborator of his to helm Shazam!
According to a rumor, started by Batman-News, Johns may tap Brad Peyton to direct Shazam!
Peyton and Johnson have worked together on Journey 2, San Andreas, and are set to make Journey 3, San Andreas 2, and Rampage together. So it's quite clear that Johnson loves what Peyton brings to the table. He...

There may be no human rights issue in the modern world that is harder to visualize than the enslavement and sale of children, but that is story told in Sold, which is now having its European premiere at the London Indian Film Festival after opening in Los Angles earlier this year. Based on Patricia McCormick’s book of the same title and compiled based on real-life stories, Sold is a hard-hitting but hope filled saga of a young girl named Lakshmi who is sold into a prison brothel. Through her eyes, we experience her horrors but also the moments of goodness and hope that give her the courage to ultimately escape. It is a powerful tale, and the film and the issues it exposes has changed the lives of everyone involved.

This week's gonzo teen nightmare Spring Breakers is trumpeting the fact that two of its leads - Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez - traditionally play "good girls". But the whole "teen idol gone bad" strategy is a longstanding Hollywood tradition aimed to help transition pigeonholed teen stars into "serious" actors.
Here are a few fellas who tried the tactic, to varying degrees of success.
Jonathan Taylor Thomas in Speedway Junky
The squeaky-clean kid from Home Improvement took a step toward tarnishing his image by playing an evil, bisexual hooker in this gritty drama, giving a whole new meaning to "Tool Time"!
Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Mysterious Skin
Jgl also went the hustler route for his breakout from small-screen teen stardom - only the 3rd Rock star went "the full gay" in this unsettling and excellent indie drama.
Lukas Haas in Johns

American Horror Story: Asylum Episode 213
“Madness Ends”
Written By: Tim Minear
Directed By: Alfonso Gomez-Rejon
Original Airdate: 23 January 2013
In This Episode...
The majority of this season finale is set in the current day. Lana, in her 60s, is being interviewed on the eve of becoming a Kennedy Center honoree. She is married to a stage actress, Marion, and the two live a sophisticated socialite life. Lana refuses to discuss her ordeal with Thredson, not wanting to give one more minute of publicity to the maniac, so instead, they start with Lana’s exposure of Briarcliff.
It is the 1970s. Lana and her two-man camera crew sneak into the asylum the same way she did years ago: through the tunnels. Inside, the conditions are beyond atrocious. Inmates are not looked after - they are left to their own devices. Many are naked, covered with bruises and sores, rolling in their own filth.

While I've been ready to start handing out Emmys to Ahs: Asylum since the second we first laid eyes on Pepper (R.I.P., Pep!), I'd like to send a special shout-out to the makeup artists who aged Sarah Paulson 30 years for tonight's finale. Top-notch neck work on the elder Lana, you guys!
As you may have guessed, we finish the series in the modern day, as the internationally recognized investigative journalist Lana Winters, host of America Unmasked, sits down in her opulent New York apartment with a film...

Paramount Pictures have released a new movie trailer for The Fighter, which was broadcast on television during Sunday’s Mad Men season finale.
The Fighter tells the true story of Boston fighter “Irish” Micky Ward and how he was helped to the world lightweight championship by half-brother and his trainer Dicky Ecklund.
Dicky Ecklund (Christian Bale) is a former boxing legend that squandered his talents and threw away his shot at greatness. Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg), his half brother, is the struggling journeyman boxer who spent his life living in his big brother’s shadow.
The Fighter is the inspirational, true story of these two brothers who, against all the odds, come together to train for a historic title bout that will unite their fractured family, redeem their pasts and, at last, give their hard-luck town what it’s been waiting for: pride. The story unfolds on the gritty, blue-collar streets of Lowell,...

Today we have the first official trailer for David O. Russell’s The Fighter. The drama stars Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams.
The Fighter tells the true story of Boston fighter “Irish” Micky Ward and how he was helped to the world lightweight championship by half-brother and his trainer Dicky Ecklund.
Ecklund was a journeyman fighter who sent Sugar Ray Leonard to the canvas in 1978. His career was derailed by drug addiction and a prison sentence. Upon his release, he convinced his younger brother, Ward – who had retired from boxing at 26 after losing four straight – to get back in the ring. Under Ecklund’s tutelage, Ward won the Wbu Light Welterweight title and engaged in one of the greatest fight trilogies in history with Arturo Gatti.
Wahlberg plays Ward, a fighter who was losing bouts and was ready to hang up the gloves when his brother came back into his life.

Blu-Ray Rating: 4.0/5.0 Chicago – Has one star ever had such an assault on their demographic as Vin Diesel is having in April 2009? He’s the star of two original video games (“Wheelman,” “The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena”), a blockbuster movie (“Fast & Furious”), and has two catalog titles in “Pitch Black” and “The Chronicles of Riddick” hitting Blu-Ray. And all of it happens in the span of two weeks.
We’ve already reviewed “Fast & Furious” and we’ll get to both of the Vin Diesel video games later this week, but we needed to step back and catch up with two Diesel flicks hitting Blu-Ray for the first time - one of his best movies by far and, well, a disappointment to say the least.
Universal has given 1999’s “Pitch Black” and 2004’s “The Chronicles of Riddick” their spectacular Blu-Ray treatment, complete with 1080P pictures, DTS-hd Master Audio tracks,...

Scott Silver has been hired to rewrite "Battle: Los Angeles" for Columbia.
The studio in April picked up Chris Bertolini's original screenplay, about an alien invasion pulverizing its way across L.A. Original Films' Ori Marmur and Columbia's Sam Dickerman brought in the material for Original's Neal Moritz to produce.
Aaron Eckhart is attached to star as a Marine platoon commander in the action film, with Jonathan Liebesman ("The Killing Room") attached to direct.
The CAA-repped Silver wrote "8 Mile," co-wrote and directed "The Mod Squad" and wrote and directed "Johns." Silver also has the sci-fi pitch "Samson" set up at Warner Bros., with Francis Lawrence attached to direct.
