"Magic Mike Xxl" (read our review) bumps and grinds its way to multiplexes this holiday weekend, and unlike Steven Soderbergh's original, the sequel is coming with less darkness and more moves up, down and around the stripper pole. But Screen Junkies are taking a moment to take another look at where the franchise started, and in case you forgot, the first flick has a lot of grit to go with the glitter. Read More: L.A. FIlm Fest Review: Entertaining Romp 'Magic Mike' Will Put Its Spell On You…And Shake It Like Nobody's Business Drug problems, money woes and the curdled American dream aren't exactly what a lot of filmgoers think of when "Magic Mike" comes to mind. But the movie inspired by Channing Tatum's real life exploits grinding on ladies is, according to this Honest Trailer, either a really dumb version of "Boogie Nights...

Gross and disappointing as it'll always be to hear Chris Brown and Rihanna reunited on a track — and in life — their collaboration "Nobody's Business" was one of the best things about RiRi's last album. Now another duet of theirs has surfaced, called "Put It Up." It's presumably a leftover from Brown's last album (he'd previously teased the song in an interview), and it's rumored Rihanna wouldn't let him release it when they broke up again. And if their brief reconciliation already made you want to vomit, we can pretty much guarantee hearing them talk dirty to each other, whispering sweet nothings like, "Treat me like I'm your property," won't be kind on your gag reflex.

In his introduction to Alan Berliner's film, "First Cousin Once Removed," which screened as part of the "Documentary Short List" program recently at Doc NYC, the festival's Artistic Director Thom Powers mentioned that most filmmakers he knows stop watching their films with audiences after the first few screenings, but Berliner is the exception. Berliner, whose experimental documentary films "Wide Awake," "The Sweetest Sound," "Nobody's Business," "Intimate Stranger" and "The Family Album" have been broadcast and screened at festivals all around the world, makes a point of watching his films along with an audience almost every chance he gets. "First Cousin Once Removed," which Eric Kohn called "equal parts psychological mystery and lyrical treatise on the passage of time," chronicles the late Edwin Honig, a poet and professor (as well as a cousin of Berliner's) and his life with Alzheimers. Below, Berliner explains why he relishes the opportunity to watch his films with an audience.

Documentarian Alan Berliner is frequently the focus of his movies, but his intentions extend beyond his neuroses. Rather than the star of the show, he's a vessel for bigger ideas and evades the perils of self-indulgence that could result from putting himself in front of the camera. That tricky balance is on display better than ever in the stirring "First Cousin Once Removed," which deepens an oeuvre that has already dealt with the tender issues of father-son relationships ("Nobody's Business") and insomnia ("Wide Awake") by exploring his fears of senility to devastating effect. Using a powerful focal point to manifest the movie's central concerns, Berliner makes his interest in the topic relevant to everyone. His case study is Edwin Honig, the first cousin of Berliner's mother, a bond that gives the movie its title. But there's more about Honig -- once a world-class poet and founder of Brown University's creative...

Seems just like old times. Katy Perry caught up with pal Rihanna Monday night in downtown New York City at the pre-album release party for Perry's upcoming effort, Prism, just days after the album's lead single, "Roar," leaked online. But there was nothing but smiles (and some fierce camera mugging) for the BFFs during their happy reunion. In a snapshot that RiRi posted on Instagram, a beaming Perry cozies up to the Barbadian beauty, while Rihanna, lips pursed and eyes shut, strikes a playful pose. "She. X She. #KatyAnna #RIHunited," the "Nobody's Business" songbird captioned the pic. But the adorable Instagram shot was just the beginning of the...

Chris Brown's recent breakup with on-again off-again girlfriend Rihanna is affecting more than just his personal life.
The 24-year-old musician was set to feature Rihanna on his next album, "X." Since the split, however, Brown has reportedly decided against including the duet with Rih.
"Just saw the working tracklist for 'X' yesterday -- Rihanna is not on there," an unnamed source told Hollywood Life. "Record execs wanted that song on there, but Chris said he would rather not and wouldn’t allow the record to be released unless they took it off."
After working with Rihanna for a track called "Nobodies Business" off of the Barbadian beauty's 2012 album "Unapologetic," Brown had been hyping fans for another duet.
"So we did 'Nobody's Business' for her album, and then I wrote a song, it's called 'Put It Up.' It's more of an R&B record," Brown told MTV in April.

Rihanna confirms she's 'single' on her Instagram by posting a very revealing and telling message about her relationship status with Chris. Keep reading to find out what she said! It's official -- at least for now. Rihanna confirms she and Chris Brown are not together via Instagram as she posts a bold message proclaiming she's a "single" woman. On December 18, the "Nobody's Business" singer took to Instagram, made a RihCard and wrote: "Being single sucks. The only thing I get to do anymore is whatever the f**k I want to do." If this isn't as clear as it gets, we don't know what is. But then again, it's Chris and Rihanna and their relationship status changes every second. As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Chris and Rihanna were on thin ice as Karrueche Tran is digging her paws deeper into Chris and, as Charlie Sheen would say, she's "Winning" Chris' love and affection.

Miami — Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown will not face criminal charges for snatching a woman's cellphone when she tried to snap a photo of him outside a Miami Beach club, prosecutors said Friday.
A memo released Friday by Miami-Dade County State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle concludes there is no evidence that Brown intended to steal the phone in February or that he deleted any photos. One or the other is necessary for him to be charged with robbery or theft.
Prosecutors said that Brown tossed the phone from his limo and that it was picked up by Devon Blanche, head of security for rapper Tyga, who had performed with Brown at the Cameo club that night. According to the memo, Blanche tried to find out if someone had lost the phone, ultimately took it with him to Atlanta during the rapper's tour and said he intended to find its owner.

Rihanna's 777 Tour rapidly devolved from an interesting idea to the first world problem of the year earlier this month, when a number of journalists shadowing the artist complained about lack of access to the singer. The tension aboard the plane (read HuffPost's piece on the tour here) reached a breaking pointwhen one protesting passenger stripped nude and ran up and down the aisles.

Rihanna, "Unapologetic" (Island Def Jam Music Group)
There's something about Rihanna. And her producers.
The singer's new album – her seventh in seven years – is like many of her other releases, full of songs that are catchy, fun and addictive. Her albums are almost like listening to a "Now" compilation disc.
"Unapologetic" is no different. It's full of future hits, and not a single miss.
"Phresh Out the Runaway," which kicks off the album, does so with a bang. And there are more: "Pour It Up," which has Rihanna sounding like a female version of The-Dream, is appealing; "Jump" samples Ginuwine's "Pony" – and it's surprisingly good; and the David Guetta-helmed "Right Now" is European-flavored and upbeat.
Even Rihanna's duet with her ex Chris Brown on "Nobody's Business," which samples Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel," will make you move your feet. Lyrically though, the song is somewhat dismissive.

Rihanna's new duet with Chris Brown is likely to be her next single. Vice President of A&R at Island Def Jam, Abou Thiam, has revealed that 'Nobody's Business' is the leading candidate to be the Bajan star's next release. Rihanna has received mixed reviews for her seventh studio album Unapologetic. The Guardian said the album is "far more interesting... than its predecessor" in its three-star review. Talking about controversial Chris Brown collaboration 'Nobody's Business', they described it as "one in the eye for the kind of person who tells you modern pop music has nothing new to offer". The Daily Telegraph called the collection "a mixed bag", saying that the first half is "full of abrasively ear-catching sound effects". However, they weren't as appreciative of the second half, saying it "switches to ballads, disco, reggae and naff rock for a gob-smacking defence of her confused love for R'n'b star Chris Brown". Rihanna has released her seventh studio album in as many years -- She's a hard working woman and it certainly pays off! I've listened to 'Unapologetic' and I can tell you it's one of Rihanna's best albums to date! Rihanna released Unapologetic on Nov. 19, an album that sounds a lot like a love letter to Chris Brown. Not only is Rihanna's duet with Chris, "Nobody's Business," the hottest track on the album, but every other song is filled with lyrics pertaining to her five-year tumultuous relationship with Breezy. On "Jump," Rihanna sings "When you f**k them other girls I bet they be wondering why you always call my name." Could this be a diss towards Karrueche Tran? "You don't need another lover," she continues. On "Love Without Tragedy" Rihanna seems to recount Chris' deadly assault on her in 2009. She sings, "You took the best years of my life/I...

Rihanna's "Unapologetic" hits stores Monday, and though her label has only officially released "Diamonds" (and its Kanye West remix), a number of tracks have leaked. First, her "Chris Brown song" "Nobody's Business" made its way online, and now "Numb" has appeared.
The track is a hazy meditation on smoking weed until one gets numb, a message echoed in the song's sound: If you can't listen to it right now, just imagine walking into a fog or smoke-filled nightclub, and you're just about there.
Eminem provides a slightly disjointed verse that doesn't necessarily bode well for those hoping Shady would return to the aggressive style that made him a household name. "I'm the butt police, and I'm looking at your rear (rear, rear)," he says, without any sort of ironic inflection. (Not that no one is impressed, PopCrush deemed his verse "murder rap" and promises "you will feel numb with aural pleasure" after listening.

Whether Rihanna's new duet with Chris Brown is called "Nobody's Business" or "Nobodies Business," one thing is clear: The song -- a Michael Jackson-y throwback with auto-tune and lyrics like "It ain't nobody's business; just mine and my baby" -- is a straight-up smash. Just as long as you can get past the idea of Rihanna and Brown being together in any capacity.
"The whole thing caught me a little off-guard to be honest ... especially the amount of ... negative attention. Because it never occurred to me how this was going to be a problem. Documentarian Alan Berliner is frequently the star of his movies, but his focus extends beyond his neuroses. But there's more about Honig -- once a world-class poet and founder of Brown University's creative writing.

I mean, it's a lot easier for me to be at 100 percent. I'd always been 100 percent. It's braver for me at 50 percent.
