ma-cortes10 October 2021
Juan (Toni Canto) is a successful trainer of a known football team that has an important match againt the Real Madrid and standing at a luxurious hotel placed in El Escorial , while Belinda (Cristina Marcos) belongs to a band of female singers , she's about getting married to hotel manager (Pere Ponce) . At the swimming pool accidently they collide, and, nearly dying they recover their lives , but they have exchanged bodies . Things go awry when Juan and Belinda fall increasingly for each other . This leads of course to extraordinary complications at the hotel , but also to insight in the problems and feelings of each other.

This agreeable picture concerns a twisted changing caused by a collision accident at a swimming pool , as both protagonists , Juan : Canto and Belinda : Marcos , both deliver chemical enough by exchanging bodies, but things go awry when they're attracted to one another . There are some nice jokes in the film and the cast , playing eccentric characters , make a cosy fit . ¨Put a Man in Your Life (1996)¨ follows the style to previous ¨Like Father Like Son (1987)¨ by Rod Daniel in which a father and his child have a mysterious potion switching the personalities of a buttoned up doctor and his laid back son, both of them played by Dudley Moore and Fred Savage. This interesting 1996 film packs colorful a images , strange situations , swift frames , twists and turns ; but it also contains some touches of humor and irony . It takes a simple concept , a spectacular exchange , in which two starring forming an attractive and fun couple while both of whom attempting to solve this fantastic stuation . There is a lot of entertainment and amusement, and jokes go too fast , with a lot of enjoyable gags. Toni Canto gives a sympathetic acting as an aggressive and loud-mouthed football trainer while Cristina Marcos is a likeable singer who attempts to marry her boyfriend at whatever cost , but they agree to co-operate and continue in their new bodies attempting to solve this twisted incident . This is a dual show, as Toni Canto and Cristina Marcos give a real recital , both of them sing , dance , make acrobatics , complete transformations, and pull strange faces and gestures. The movie results to be a grand vehicle of these sympathetic actors, they are true showmen providing a true spectacle of comical interpretation . Both of whom are assisted by a fine plethora of familiar faces , outstanding Pere Ponce as Belinda's stiff boyfriend and Anabel Alonso as a fortune teller , as well as minor but nice interpretations from Javier Cámara, Liberto Rabal , Carmen Balagué, Mercedes Resino and the veetrans Pilar Velazquez and Raul Sender.

It contains a catching musical score along with lively songs , such as : Una eternidad by José Manuel Pagán performed by Cristina Marcos and Toni Cantó , Extraterrestres by José Manuel Pagán performed by Cristina Marcos , Los chicos con las chicas b y Manolo Díaz Lyrics by Manolo Díaz , Sin problemas performed by Niagara Girls and Juan Cebra by José Manuel Pagán . The motion picture was well directed by Eva Lesmes . She is a fine director and writer who has got some successes . Eva Lesmes was born in Gijón, Asturias , location where she usually shoots her films . She is a director and writer, especially for TV , known for ¨Maitena: Estados Alterados¨ (2008), ¨A las Once en Casa¨ (1998) , ¨El Comisario¨ , ¨Casa De Los Lios¨ (1997) , ¨El Palo¨ (2001) , Ellas y el sexo débil (2006) . Being his best pictures , two comedies titled : ¨El Palo¨ and ¨Pon Un Hombre En Tu Vida¨ (1996) . It is a film worth watching and, in turn, is really amusing and truly a hoot to watch . It is probably one of the best satisfying comedian efforts to come out of Spain in the early nineties . Rating : 7/10. Better than average.

Intelligent, hilarious gender bender
GMeleJr16 April 2000
PUT A MAN IN YOUR LIFE is an unusual gender bender. As overworked as the genre has been the past decade, this farce stands out. Its premise is a change of body experience between a loud-mouthed, macho soccer team manager with all the stereotypical flaws of the Latin male (Tonio Canto' of ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER), and Belinda, a female singer representing the modern European twenty something woman. Fate finds the soccer manager's team and Belinda's singing group at the same hotel one weekend. These two opposites accidentally collide and wake up, near death, having switched bodies. The resulting gender-bending hi-jinx are really a hoot to watch. Throw in more than just a few eccentric characters, and funny plot twists, and the result is a highly original film, with a message, which is very-well delivered. This is a great bed-hopping comedy of errors which appeals to both sexes and is a great film to watch one night you want some intelligent fun.
