This is a romantic ghost comedy from Hong Kong. Building Inspector Tony (Tony Leung Ka Fai) investigates an old abandoned building in a deserted plant site, where a demon wants to possess Tony's body. However, a young ghost named Chia (Rosamund Kwan) saves Tony and, falls in love with him.
It's more of a romantic comedy than a ghost story, as Tony wants to use Chia to help him woo his colleague Ellen (Ellen Chan). You will see the typical dates and love triangles in the film - nothing very unique, but they're tastefully acted out and serves up quite the entertainment and laughs. The ghost scenes were also tastefully done; perhaps the scariest part is the good ghost vs. demon scene, and the scene where Tony and Ellen unknowingly dine in a restaurant full of zombies and goblins. There are also some humorous scenes, such as the scenes involving Tony and Chia sharing the same feelings and emotions.
Good acting by Tony Leung and Rosamund Kwan, and nice cameo appearances by Woo Fung, Siu-Wai Mui, Lawrence Cheng and Alfred Cheung. Nothing too sappy or scary, just a harmless and entertaining little ghost comedy.
Grade B
