Officer with a rose... for two ladies
Alfabeta29 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
POSSIBLE SPOILER Highly erotic drama about a love triangle in the early days of communism in post war Zagreb as a background, with expected tragic conclusion. END SPOILER

Plot: Young, rich and beautiful, but lonely woman Matilda Ivancic (played by dazzling Ksenija Pajic), who lost her husband, unwillingly accepts young naive partisan girl Ljiljana Matic (Dragana Mrkic), who has somewhat boyish looks to live in one of the rooms in her apartment until she gets the orders to move on. Matilda doesn't like Ljiljana but Ljiljana is simply enchanted by the classy look and act Matilda has. She loves the way Matilda looks, dress, talks and wants to be just like her. She asks Matilda to teach her how to be more lady like. She would also like to make friends with Matilda on the basis that they are just enemies by "class". Not as people. This awkward friendship somehow goes on, until young Communist officer, Ljiljana's boyfriend, shows up. Matilda starts to fall for the handsome officer, although she refuses to admit this. Soon Ljiljana gets her transfer orders and officer and Matilda are all alone... Plot end.

With some strong performances by all three main actors this is in it's core classic love triangle story with few fine touches on the edge and if you like this kind of stories, you will be more then satisfied.

There are some highly erotic scenes in the movie, especially when Ljiljana asks Matilda if she can have a bath in Matilda's bathtub.

Settings are wonderful (especially Matilda's apartment) with that classical look and feel of the fifties. Direction and camera work are also very skilled and make the movie to look great.
