Lowbrow rom-com parody
lor_29 October 2023
Its title merely a misleading attempt to cash in on the popular "Brat" series of porn movies, "I'm No Brat" is actually a dumb parody of Danny DeVito's hit "The War of the Roses", not even thinly disguised. It concerns a couple named the Roses (how original) played by Nikki Randall (of "Brat" fame but playing an entirely different sort of character here) and Randy West, who both consult corrupt divorce lawyer Jon Dough -each seeking to obtain ownership of their house with the end of their troubled marriage.

Both talking to the camera and in voiceover, Dough dominates the show with his knowing advice about the inadvisability of seeking divorce. Director Michael Craig and scripter Mark Weiss attempt droll humor, but DeVito's skill at developing black comedy is absent, making for a silly movie. The lengthy sex scenes mixing and matching a small cast of just five players are all that matters.

Weiss's notion of a "big plot twist" is strictly a groaner here, and the acting is weaker than usual from a familiar cast that includes Bridgette Monroe as the Roses' sexy housemaid, and Marylin Rose as a professional homewrecker.
