The first "live court on TV" series.
Tangor16 September 1999
TV judges Wapner, Sheindlin, Lane, etc., are modern day extensions of this pioneering televison series that portrayed the American legal system in thirty minutes or less. Viewing this 1957 series as a young fellow the terms "oath", "perjury" and "liar" took on new meanings. Filmed in black and white and obviously modeled after the then popular Perry Mason series, Divorce Court was the first program on American television to present courtroom dramas as "real life."

Great Show

Warning: Spoilers
I can remember watching this show in the late sixties as a boy with my family thinking I was crazy ! However I knew good/bad when I saw it ! As the other comment said this was the first reality type show on the air and used very amateurish acting but was effective in its way . My favorite parts were when the lawyers would badger the witnesses saying '' and isn't it true '' To the angry denials of the husbands and weepy no's of the wives .They then would keep rolling as they exited the courtroom sniping at each other . I'd give anything to see reruns or DVD's of this show but can't find it anywhere .Can anyone help ? I'd really appreciate a point in the right direction to finding some copies of the show .
