The struggle for life in post-Soviet Russia
LeRoyMarko19 April 2001
This movie depicts the life in a little village of Siberia. You can really feel the cold and the isolation of the region. The people there struggle to get through life in the post-Soviet era. The cinematography, so as the acting is very good.

Out of 100, I gave it 84.

A Simple Film
CommieTT9 May 2000
The movie basically is the life in a small village in Siberia. The inhabitants are all trying to cope with life in post-Soviet Russia. There are great lessons to be learned from this movie. Compassion, trust, hope and the real meaning of strength.

It's been over a year since I saw the film so much of the specifics have been lost to me. All I know is that it made me feel good inside when I left the theater.

My rating: 9

In the country we lost
Zhorzhik-Morzhik8 March 2020
"In That Land..." is the village drama of Lydia Bobrova. Since Lydia Bobrova no one else in the cinema shows Russia. A talented director will go down in history as a real poet of a Russian village. And it is no coincidence that the film is called: "In that Land", and not "In this Land" and not "In our Land". Because we, living in big cities, do not know anything about the hard life of people in a small village in the Russian North. The main festival film of the year of Russia.
