- A girl of the upper-class family marries a poor man on the contract to gain her family wealth.
- Vani is a person who is passionate about religion. According to Vani's grandfather's last will, if she does not marry a man of her caste before she turns 18, she and her family will lose all her property. No matter how hard the family lawyer tries, he fails to find any solution except Vani's marriage. Vani's father reminds the lawyer about Vani's childhood. In a flashback, teenage Vani is a devout individual who frequently participates in puja activities with her grandfather. However, Vani's father is a critic of excessive devotion to God. The father of one of Vani's friends, a poor man from the village, invites Vani's grandfather to his daughter's wedding. Initially, Vani's grandfather is reluctant to attend, but eventually agrees to do so at Vani's request. After attending the friend's wedding, Vani begins to express a desire to get married as well. Vani's grandfather then advises her to marry the person she loves the most. As her family are searching for her, they discover that Vani has gone missing. When they look for her, they find her placing a garland of flowers around the idol at the Deva Mandir, apparently in response to her grandfather's words about marrying the person she loves most. Vani's father attributes her disappearance to her stubbornness, which he believes was instilled by her grandfather. Vani's grandfather had promised her a suitable marriage. However, disagreements arise between Vani's father and grandfather regarding the marriage, as Vani's father is seeking a groom who is efficient and educated, while Vani's grandfather insists that the groom should be from the same caste as his own generation. As a result of these differences, Vani's grandfather specifies the terms of Vani's marriage in his last will, stating that it must be carried out in a certain way in order for Vani to inherit his property. Returning to the present, Vani's father explains to his lawyer the reason behind his father's conditions on Vani's marriage. He reveals that even if his father had chose a groom for Vani, the marriage cannot proceed due to the groom's poor behavior. According to the last will, Vani's marriage must take place within two months, her father emphasizes. Meanwhile, Amarnath, who has come to study at the Ashram belonging to Vani's family, accidentally trespasses on the family's land, which enrages Vani and prompts Amarnath to apologize to her. Vani learns about Amarnath from the Guru of the Ashram, and Amarnath's colleague Aagyanath begins to resent Amarnath due to the affection shown to him by the guru. Aagyanath's words create confusion in Vani, who is listening to Amarnath's lecture, as Amarnath states that god resides within people, rather than in the mandir. Vani's father consults with an astrologer to set a date for the marriage. Vani criticizes Amarnath's behaviour in front of her parents, expressing her disappointment. Shortly after, the guru of the ashram collapses and passes away, leaving behind a last will that appoints Amarnath as the new head of the ashram. Concerned about Amarnath's lack of knowledge regarding the pujas performed at the mandir, Vani takes it upon herself to teach him how to perform the rituals correctly. Meanwhile, Vani's father continues to search for a suitable groom for Vani's marriage, but thus far, he has not found a suitable candidate. Once again, Vani criticizes Amarnath in front of her parents, pointing out that he is unfamiliar with the concept of pujas. Aagyanath, however, asks his sister-in-law to try to dissuade Vani from being impressed with Amarnath, but she refuses to intervene. Amarnath visits the home of a poor man whom he has cured, brings flowers from the location, and offers them to God. An angry Vani scolds Amarnath, telling him not to perform pujas again, citing Aagyanath's claim that the flowers he offered are not suitable for worship and that they were taken from the garden of a low-caste individual. Amarnath agrees to desist, but asserts that he did nothing wrong. Aagyanath then urges Vani's father to remove Amarnath from his position, but before that can happen, Amarnath resigns from his post. As a result, Aagyanath becomes the new head of the ashram. In a separate development, Vani's father discovers a divorcee who he believes would be a suitable match for Vani. However, Vani's mother disapproves of the arrangement and decides to marry Vani to Vinod Kumar, a groom who was initially proposed as a suitor for Vani. Vani's father subsequently calls Vinod Kumar to Rajnagar to finalize the marriage arrangements. Vani's mother proposes a marriage between Vani and Vinod, but Vinod reveals that he is already married. Vinod then tells Vani that she will be marrying someone else, to which Vani responds by saying that her marriage was with God. Vinod subsequently promises Vani's father that he will find a suitable groom for Vani. However, Vani is relieved to hear that she did not get married to someone suitable. Vinod then proposes Amarnath as a potential suitor for Vani, despite the initial disapproval of Vani's father. Vani's mother surprisingly agrees to the marriage proposal, despite the reservations of Vani's father. Although Vani is reluctant to marry Amarnath, she ultimately agrees to the marriage, fearing that she will lose the Deva Mandir as her father had warned her. Vinod later advises Vani not to fear marriage, suggesting that she could follow his example and marry for the sake of name only, without any emotional or relational commitment. Meanwhile, Aagyanath warns Vani's father not to proceed with the marriage, expressing his concerns about the arrangement. Vani's father proposes marriage between Vani and Amarnath. Amarnath responds by telling Vani's father that he will get back to him later, but it is clear that Amarnath is interested in marrying Vani. However, Vani makes a condition before accepting the proposal, stating that she will only agree to marry Amarnath if he promises that there will be no relationship between them after the marriage. Amarnath agrees to this condition, and before God, he promises that the two will separate as soon as the marriage takes place. Aagyanath subsequently informs Vani's father that he approves of this marriage arrangement. Amarnath then shares with Vani's father the condition that Vani had set forth. With the proposal now accepted, the marriage between Vani and Amarnath is held in a grand manner. Returning home with the intention of going out for work again, Vinod changes his mind out of pity for his wife's illness. However, he does not share his feelings with his wife, Shanta. Meanwhile, on the honeymoon, Amarnath informs Vani that he will leave for Asan the next morning, as previously promised. He also informs Vani's father about his plan, and Vani's father will explain it to Vani's mother. The next morning, Amarnath leaves without Vani's mother's consent. Before Vani can say anything to him, Amarnath bids her farewell and departs. With Amarnath's departure, Vani's sense of integrity crumbles, and she is unable to even perform her devotional rituals. In a state of distress, Vani decides to visit Vinod's house, promising her father that she will return after a month. Vinod's sister is impressed by Vinod's newfound devotion to Shanta, and Vinod has begun to develop romantic feelings for her. Vani is surprised by the sudden development of their relationship, and Vinod explains that he had a profound understanding of the meaning of marriage on the day of Vani's own wedding. Meanwhile, Amarnath is traveling from village to village, spreading knowledge about Sanskrit. While visiting a temple, he is reminded of Vani after seeing the statue of Radha Govind. Vani's mother becomes disheartened after reading a newspaper article praising Amarnath's efforts. She scolds her husband and daughter for sending Amarnath away, and tells Vani to apologize to him and bring him back home. Vani is desperate for a solution to her problem and prays to God for help. Vani's father also decides to take Vani on a trip, hoping to ease her troubled mind. Despite visiting places like Puri, Rameswaram, Vrindavan, and Mathura, Vani's mind remains unsettled. Vani then encounters a sage in Kashi, and he warns her that if someone sets a false example, their wishes will never come true. Vani becomes upset by this and leaves the sage's presence. She then travels to Asan with her father. On their way back home, they meet Amarnath on the train. Vani's father urges Amarnath to return home, but he refuses, citing his busy schedule. Amarnath bids farewell to Vani at the next stop. Meanwhile, Vinod and Shanta's love continues to grow stronger day by day. Before passing away, Vani's mother asks Vani to bring back Amarnath. Amarnath's mental focus is weak, and he falls ill. A friend from the ashram visits him and recommends that he should go to Rajnagar, but Amarnath avoids the suggestion. However, the friend from the ashram informs Vani and the others about Amarnath's illness. When Vani's father learns about Amarnath's condition, he tells Vinod to send a letter to Amarnath, urging him to come to Rajnagar. Upon hearing about Amarnath's illness, Vani becomes sad. Vani's friend has an idea, and Vani writes a letter to bring Amarnath to Rajnagar. Recognizing that Amarnath's condition is serious, Vani prays to God to heal him. Despite Aagyanath's opposition, Vani accompanies her father to Asan to visit Amarnath. On their way there, Vani sees Amarnath being taken to the hospital in a critical condition at the railway station. Amarnath is soon admitted to the hospital, where the doctor delivers a somber prognosis, stating that Amarnath's chances of recovery are less. Vani finds a letter on Amarnath's shirt, in which he has declared his love for her. Reading it, Vani becomes emotional, and the doctor separates her from Amarnath. After undergoing treatment, the doctor announces that Amarnath has regained consciousness. Both Vani and Amarnath are overjoyed and express their love for each other. The film ends with a scene where Vani and Amarnath perform a puja at the Deva Mandir.
