Why Felix?!

Warning: Spoilers
After seeing Felix The Cat Switches Witches,I started looking for other Felix films from 1927. Expecting to find short and sweet 3 minute movies,I was surprised to find a 7 minute one!

The plot:

Returning home after a night out partying,Felix is met by his less than happy wife. Aware of the trouble he is in,Felix begins trying to think up an excuse.

View on the film:

Running for over double the running time of Switches Witches, director Otto Messmer cleverly uses the extra time to dig into Felix's fur,via a mischievous side being revealed in Felix's exchanges with his wife. Retaining the Punk design,Messmer gives the characters a sharp, off the wall edge style,as Felix asks the whys and the hows.

Some Tall Tales
boblipton29 January 2014
Felix the Cat has spent the evening night-clubbing. When he comes home after midnight to find the Missus waiting with a rolling pin, he comes up with several stories to explain his penniless dishabille.

Although the cartoon Felix was always a master manipulator of his environment, with an ability to turn anything into anything else, director Otto Messmer has invested the cartoon with a more subjective-seeming reality, as roads wander hither and yon beneath his feet and keyholes move out of his reach. It's certainly offbeat for Felix to deal with a universe that does not yield to his customary élan, but the gags are, as always, exceedingly amusing.
