Six Minutes?
boblipton7 January 2024
The IMDb time for this movie claims it is six minutes long. The film I looked at was six minutes in length, but claims to have been the first part of a feature.

It's part of the Indian epic Ramayana, in which Lanka, the wife of an Indian prince, is abducted by Hanuman for his master; I am familiar with part of it from the cartoon SITA SINGS THE BLUES. Anna Salunke play Lanka; Ganpat Shinde plays Hanuman, capering about with a long tail and occasionally doubled by a monkey.

There's a lot of cultural cues here which escape me, but are apparent from what survive. It's an early and interesting surviving fragment.

Excellent. It was a treat

For a movie buff. This is gold .A clip from this movie shows a Visionary Dadasaheb Phalke create magic on screen. It was mesmerizing. It brought me tears to think that in that day and age ; Dadasaheb Phalke made such a movie possible. The stunts of Hanuman were excellent. Anna Salunkhe plays the first double role and he looks great as both Rama and Sita.
