Dumb ripoff
lor_2 October 2023
This ripoff of Billy Wilder's classic "The Apartment" is a disappointing porn effort by Anthony Spinelli. The overacting and way too obvious depiction of the original movie's themes and situations amounts to nothing.

Even the title is fake: it's referred to as the apartment throughout and is not a penthouse suite at all. It belongs to Robert Bullock, an obsequious, unappealing Walter Mitty who dreams of sexual conquests, but instead is forced by his mean bosses to lend out his little apartment for them to use whenever they're taking a woman home to cheat on their wives. Making it worse, those women are the very same ones Bullock would like for himself.

The pretentious dialogue keeps hammering away at this situation, building to a very downbeat ending which merely shows how trapped and limited our nonhero's life is. It's the usual audience insult: assuming lonely porn viewers are schmucks in the same boat as the fictional main character.

Cast is given uninteresting assignments, even Nina Hartley as an attractive secretary.
