Well-acted but unenthralling porn video
lor_14 January 2015
POWER BLONDE would probably have been a better movie had it been made a decade earlier, shot on film and perhaps recruited a stronger cast. As is, this programmer by Ron Sullivan/Henri Pachard is a marginally diverting drama.

It's storyline harks back to the '50s style of movies like EXECUTIVE SUITE and DESK SET, with the emphasis this time around on upwardly mobile women. Lynn LeMay, sporting normal- sized breasts at this point in her career, stars as Lois, a new employee at Spencer's ad agency eager to make her mark.

I figured the plot line would presage MAD MEN, but it goes a different route, probably due to the need to emphasize (explicit) sexual content. Nina Hartley, when she isn't giving a blow job to egotistical agency boss Jon Martin, shows Lynn the ropes. Another climber played by Joey Silvera gives us a notion of where the video is headed when he declares: "Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac".

Raven Touchstone's script twists & turns far more than is expected in a porn vehicle. Lynn takes up with jewelry store chain owner Randy West, and soap operatics are injected with her rivalry with Ona Z over his affections (while Sharon Kane is well-cast as West's bi-sexual wife).

Audience sympathy for LeMay, who is usually given uninteresting roles in these XXX assignments, makes her rather turbulent career path of ups & downs (no pun intended) watchable if not memorable. All told, tote this up in the plus column amongst Pachard's hundreds of titles.
