Woody Woodpecker makes his first appearance in this film. He doesn't have a name until his next film, Woody Woodpecker (1941).
Woody appears a guest star here, so to speak. The cartoon features his future cast mate Andy Panda (and son), looking like realistic pandas. They, like Woody, would change appearance over the years.
The sight gags of a mechanized femme fatale being used to entice the antagonist was a popular one in most of the animation studios of the day. Here, Woody is tempted by a sultry robot pigeon.
