Oh Barry
BandSAboutMovies27 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ah man, Barry Mahon. This time you're buying into the Eurospy trend a few years too late and treating us to the tale of secret agent Lucky Bang Bang, who has been recruited to stop the mob who is trying to shake down a madame named Carol Kane.

Lucky is played by Lucky Kargo, who was also in Venus In Furs, The Hookers, The Love Cult and did stunts for A Lovely Way to Die.

At this point in watching the Mahon films one after another for a week, you start to notice a warm, fuzzy drug haze as you enjoy them. Beehive hairdos, dialogue coming in from off-camera, outright mistakes being kept in the film no matter what, narration over all of this...it's all the same, non-titillating titillation, the movies our grandparents were sure that would send them to hell and that would be practically tame on streaming these days.

But hey - Barry was there, he was looking to give the raincoaters whatever he could and make a dishonest buck. So there's that. And there's also 58 minutes in this movie that will feel like 29 hours.

$1.50 James Bond soft-core knock-off with a plethora of bare breasts
Woodyanders5 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Macho secret agent Lucky Bang Bang (woodenly played with engaging earnestness by Lucky Kargo) takes down a combination blackmail and prostitution racket run by ruthless businesswoman Carol Kane and her mobster cohorts. Notorious soft-core smut filmmaker Barry Mahon makes absolutely no bones about this movie being essentially a complete piece of total unapologetic junk: We've got wall to wall tasty female nudity (guys who dig seeing foxy topless babes in trashy black granny panties will be in hog heaven!), the entertainingly tawdry story unfolds at a breathless brisk pace, and there's a lively burst of rough'n'tumble action in the exciting last reel. The scrappy black and white cinematography and the stiff acting by a lame no-name cast further enhance this picture's considerable rinky-dink charm. The lean sixty minute running time never drags and thus ensures that this movie never overstays its welcome. Moreover, having Kane run her operation while often bare-chested rates as a nice sleazy touch. The groovy jazz score hits the swinging spot. Good low-rent fun.

Secret Agent Lucky Bang Bang

Sex Club International (1967)

* 1/2 (out of 4)

Here's another sexploitation picture from Barry Mahon, although this one here mixes in elements of a James Bond spoof. Agent Lucky Bang Bany (Lukcy Kargo) must try and take down a blackmail ring, which is also operating as a prostitution racket.

SEX CLUB INTERNATIONAL certainly isn't going to win any awards and once again we've got an extremely low-budget movie that just doesn't have much going for it. As I go through Mahon's films I must say that I enjoy watching them but at the same time there's really not too much going on in them. I think he had a talent behind the camera as the films at least look professional but there's just not much else going on.

Even at just 58 minutes this film seems twice as long and that's because there are so many scenes here that just drag on for no reason. Well, I take that back. The reason they drag on is to expand the running time but that just makes this boring. It's really too bad more wasn't done but I'm sure those paying money to see this back in the day were at least happy with all the nudity. There's plenty of that here but it's still pretty boring sitting through this just for that. Well, there's also Kargo's speaking to the camera and constantly looking down to read his lines.
