Columbia's Fox & Crow series derives from Frank Tashlin's classic THE FOX AND THE GRAPES and lasted a good half dozen years, and was still available as a comic book in the early 1960s -- it was one of those I turned my nose up at.

But the cartoon series, and this one in particular, was a good one. In this one, the neurasthenic Fox is an egg collector, trying to grab a couple of eggs that the Crow has gotten as a couple of war orphans. In an attempt to distract him, the Crow talks the fox into a vaudeville act -- with the usual unhappy consequences for the pair of them.

The drawing style is a bit simplified for the series -- not yet at the UPA standards, but definitely trying to save a buck -- but the script is good, the gags are fun and the characters are enjoyable.
