Comedy of marital mishaps.
horn-515 June 2006
This Hungarian Standard Films production played NYC's 49th Street Modern Playhouse in late October, 1939, with Hungarian dialogue and no English titles. The US version ran 76 minutes.

The plot revolves around mix-ups, mishaps and miss-matches, with Antal Pager, set to marry Zita Szeleczky, suddenly finding himself entangled with Lkari Tolnay, when he appears on the scene as she is about to attempt a half-hearted suicide. She further complicates things when Pager and Szeleczky are about to leave on their honeymoon.

Cast also includes Lajos Basthy and Ferencz Vendrey. Somebody else will have to properly spell and accent the names as shown in Hungary. "Bitter Honeymoon" was the USA review title (translated for the English-only readers) and is not the title shown on the US screen version. No need to change the US title. If they understood the language, they also knew how to read the title in Hungarian.
